Deltron 3030 is an alternative hip hop supergroup composed of producer Dan the Automator, rapper Del the Funky Homosapien and DJ Kid Koala. Their... work features many other artists as well, all taking on various futuristic pseudonyms. The group's debut album Deltron 3030, released on May 23, 2000, is a concept album set in the year 3030 that tells of the fight by Deltron Zero against huge corporations that rule the universe. The lyrics were written in less than two weeks and are characterized by extravagant allusions to futuristic outer-space themes in the tradition of Afrofuturist works by Sun Ra and George Clinton. Many samples originated with the contemporary French classical composer William Sheller. Following the release of the album, all three members worked on the Gorillaz' self-titled debut album. Deltron 3030's second album will be titled Deltron Event II. Production began in 2006, however, it was not until late 2011 that it was finished. According to Kid Koala's website, he finished the turntable portions of the album in May 2006.

Ninja Tune is a British independent record label started by DJs Matt Black and Jonathan More, better known as Coldcut and managed by Peter Quicke. The label was one of the first in Britain to consistently embrace and release artists that create and perform new forms of electronic dance music since... the 1990s. The label now releases music of various genres and distributes other record labels, including Big Dada, Brainfeeder, Motion Audio and Counter Records. The label was founded in 1990. In 1994 Matt Black's close friend Mixmaster Morris introduced Matt to Openmind - a DJ & design collective in Camberwell - at the Telepathic Fish chill-out club they were running. Openmind included Kevin Foakes aka Strictly Kev of DJ Food. After submitting a re-styled company logo he was employed by Ninja Tune in the capacity of overall design consultant. Pre-dating Ninja Tune is the radio show Solid Steel, which Coldcut set up in 1988. What initially began as a radio show on then pirate Kiss FM went on to become a weekly radio podcast and also the name of live nightclub events showcasing the talents of a number of Ninja Tune artists.
