Megaforce Records is an American independent record label which was founded in 1982 by Jon and Marsha Zazula to publish the first works of Metallica. It has offices in New York and Philadelphia. The label is distributed in the U.S. by Sony Music Entertainment/RED Distribution. It was distributed by... Atlantic Records in the USA 1987–1991. Megaforce artists that have appeared on the Billboard Top 200 chart include Metallica, Living Colour, Blue October, The Black Crowes, Anthrax, Overkill, Testament, Mushroomhead and Ministry. Ministry, Anthrax, The Black Crowes and Metallica have all received various RIAA certifications in the US. The U.S. corporate office for Megaforce Records is located in New York City.

Inside Out Music is a German independent record label originally based in Kleve, in the North Rhine-Westphalia region, and dedicated to the publication of progressive rock, progressive metal and related styles music albums. In 2009 after partnership with Century Media Records was announced the base... of operations was moved to Dortmund in the Bundesland of North Rhine-Westphalia The label was founded in 1996 by Thomas Waber and started its publications re-issuing for Europe the albums of new American prog metal acts like Symphony X and Shadow Gallery and then signing important prog artists like Steve Hackett. Inside Out signed a worldwide distribution contract with the German music company SPV and branched out with the American division InsideOut US, based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 2009 SPV had to file for bankruptcy, and Inside Out partnered up with Century Media Records, which had secured a worldwide distribution contract with EMI. Several important bands of the new school of progressive rock are signed to Inside Out, including The Flower Kings, Spock's Beard, Enchant, Pain of Salvation and The Safety Fire.

Atlantic Records is an American record label best known for its many recordings of rhythm and blues, rock and roll, and jazz. Over its first 20 years of operation Atlantic earned a reputation as one of the most important American independent recording labels, specializing in jazz, R&B and soul... recordings by African-American artists, a position greatly enhanced by its distribution deal with Stax Records. In 1967 Atlantic became a wholly owned subsidiary of Warner Bros.-Seven Arts, now the Warner Music Group, and expanded into rock and pop music, signing Cream, Led Zeppelin, Yes and Foreigner. In 2004 Atlantic Records and its sister label Elektra Records merged into Atlantic Records Group. Craig Kallman is currently Chairman of Atlantic Records. Label co-founder Ahmet Ertegün served as Founding Chairman until his death on December 14, 2006 at age 83. The label also has a number of deals with previously independent labels such as Must Destroy and VP Records in Jamaica, home to reggae artists such as Sean Paul.
