The Tennessee School for the Deaf is a state-operated residential and day school for deaf and hard-of-hearing students ranging from pre-kindergarten... to grade 12. It is located in Knoxville, Tennessee within the historic Island Home Park neighborhood. The school was established in 1844 as the Tennessee Asylum for the Deaf and Dumb. The first students were enrolled in 1845. The Tennessee School for the Deaf is a part of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association. It fields high school sports teams in football, basketball, track and field, cross-country running, volleyball, and swimming, which compete against public school teams as well as teams from other schools for the deaf. Cheerleading is also included in the athletic program.

The Monday House, also known as the Weigel House, is located at 2721 Asbury Road in Knoxville, Tennessee. It is on the National Register of Historic... Places. The house was constructed in the late 19th century in the Queen Anne style. The house is now used for commercial space. The house was last used as a residence by Steven and Karla Shell. Their children, Brandon, Summer, and Damon Morell lived with them from 1998 until 2001. The house was placed on the historical registry by Steven and Karla under the name Weigel/Shell Estate. Prior to their sale of the estate, it comprised the house, a large barn, a garden patio, a detatched 2 car garage, and 3 outbuildings. During their ownership of this house, Steven and Karla completed a restoration of the home in which they remodeled the kitchen and main bathroom. This restoration reversed the remodeling project that had been undertaken by the previous owners sometime during the 1970s. In that project, the previous owners had laid carpet over the original hardwood floors and installed a drop ceiling in the kitchen, where they had also replaced all cabinetry.

The Peters House is a historic home located at 1319 Grainger Avenue in Knoxville, Tennessee. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. It is... also known as White Columns, as well as the George W. Peters House. The major addition and renovation to an earlier small house was undertaken according to the designs of local architect George Franklin Barber in the late 19th century. Original drawings are held by the McClung Historical Collection. George Franklin Barber began publishing his homes in inexpensive, illustrated catalogs. He worked between 1887 and 1913, with a staff of approximately 50. Mr. Barber warned residents of the horrors of a house not designed by a trained architect, noting that Geo. F. Barber & Co. was "between you and a hideous monstrosity". Barber houses were primarily constructed in the United States, but were also found in foreign countries. This specific home was constructed in the late 19th century in the Colonial Revival style. The Peters House is privately owned, and is not open to the public.

Westwood is an historic home located at 3425 Kingston Pike in Knoxville, Tennessee. Also known as the Adelia Armstrong Lutz House, The house was... built by J.E. Lutz on land given to him by his father-in-law, Robert H. Armstrong. The land was once part of the large estate appurtenant to Drury P. Armstrong's Crescent Bend. Constructed circa 1890, the house was designed in the Queen Anne style by the architecture firm of Baumann Brothers. Unlike most Queen Anne houses extant in Knoxville, the house was executed in brick and stone, incorporating some Richardsonian Romanesque elements. The home is on the National Register of Historic Places. It is a private residence, and is not open to the public.

Alexander Murray Palmer Haley was an African-American writer. He is best known as the author of Roots: The Saga of an American Family and the... coauthor of The Autobiography of Malcolm X. Haley was born in Ithaca, New York, on August 11, 1921, and was the oldest of three brothers and a sister. Haley lived with his family in Henning, Tennessee, before he returned to Ithaca with his family when he was five years old. Haley's father was a professor of agriculture at Alabama A&M University. The younger Haley always spoke proudly of his father and the obstacles of racism he had overcome. Alex Haley was enrolled at Alcorn State University at age 15. Two years later he returned to his parents to inform them of his withdrawal from college. Simon Haley felt that Alex needed discipline and growth and convinced his son to enlist in the military when he turned 18. On May 24, 1939, Alex Haley began his twenty-year enlistment with the Coast Guard. He enlisted as a mess attendant and then became a Petty Officer Third Class in the rate of Steward, one of the few rates open to African Americans at that time. His Coast Guard service number was 212-548.

Neal was born Patsy Louise Neal, in Packard, Whitley County, Kentucky, to William Burdette and Eura Petrey Neal. She grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee, where she attended Knoxville High School, and studied drama at Northwestern University. After moving to New York, she accepted her first job as understudy in the Broadway production of The Voice of the Turtle. Next she appeared in Another Part of the Forest , winning the 1947 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play, in the first ever presentation of the Tony awards. In 1949, Neal made her film debut in John Loves Mary. That year, Ronald Reagan was her co-star in The Hasty Heart.

Glenn Thomas Jacobs better known by his ring name, Kane, is an American professional wrestler and actor signed to WWE and appearing on its Raw... brand. Born in Torrejón de Ardoz, Spain. Jacobs began his wrestling career in 1992 working on independent circuits. The character's half-brother is The Undertaker, with whom Kane has teamed up as the Brothers of Destruction. Jacobs has accumulated 17 championship accolades during his WWE career. He is a three-time world champion, having won the WWF Championship once, the ECW Championship once, and the World Heavyweight Championship once . He is the first of only three men to hold all three of WWE's world titles.

Not getting the big break he had hoped for, he began writing and pitching article ideas to various magazines. An idea to test self-defense equipment on himself was picked up by the Jeff Tremaine-helmed skateboarding magazine Big Brother, and the stunts were filmed and included in Big Brother's Number Two video.

Wesson returned in 2004 for Survivor: All-Stars, where she was the first person voted off the show. As part of the Ogakor tribe, Wesson was not targeted in the beginning of the game, seeming to mesh well with all the contestants and was not seen as a physical liability. In Episode 4, Wesson was part of a move orchestrated on the way to Tribal Council. Wesson managed to convince allies Keith Famie and Colby Donaldson to force a tie between Mitchell Olson and Famie, whereby Olson would be voted off due to his previous vote at Episode 3's tribal council.

John Bushnell "Jack" Hanna is an American zookeeper who is the Director Emeritus of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. He was Director of the zoo from... 1978 to 1993, and is viewed as largely responsible for elevating its quality and reputation. His media appearances have made him one of the most notable animal experts in the United States. Hanna, nicknamed "Jungle Jack", is known for his khaki safari outfit, deep tan, and Southern accent. Hanna was born in Knoxville, Tennessee. He grew up on his father's farm outside Knoxville, and volunteered for a veterinarian when he was 11. He attended The Kiski School, an all-boys boarding school in Saltsburg, Pennsylvania, for high school, graduating in 1965. He majored in business and political science at Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio, where he got in trouble for keeping ducks in his dorm room and a donkey in a shed behind his fraternity house . In his senior year, Hanna married Suzi, a cheerleader at Muskingum, and graduated in 1969. Although unable to secure zoning as a zoo for his father's farm, the two opened a pet shop and petting zoo.

His parents decided to have him repeat the eighth grade when he was enrolled at the Webb School of Knoxville due to the school's intense academic program.
