Krist Novoselic

Nirvana was an American rock band that was formed by singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic in Aberdeen, Washington in 1987.... Nirvana went through a succession of drummers, the longest-lasting being Dave Grohl, who joined the band in 1990. In the late 1980s Nirvana established itself as part of the Seattle grunge scene, releasing its first album Bleach for the independent record label Sub Pop in 1989. The band eventually came to develop a sound that relied on dynamic contrasts, often between quiet verses and loud, heavy choruses. After signing to major label DGC Records, Nirvana found unexpected success with "Smells Like Teen Spirit", the first single from the band's second album Nevermind . Nirvana's sudden success widely popularized alternative rock as a whole, and as the band's frontman Cobain found himself referred to in the media as the "spokesman of a generation", with Nirvana being considered the "flagship band" of Generation X. Nirvana's third studio album In Utero , challenged the group's audience, featuring an abrasive, less-mainstream sound. The album didn't match the sales figures of Nevermind but was still a commercial success.

Eyes Adrift was a three piece rock supergroup consisting of Krist Novoselic , Curt Kirkwood , and Bud Gaugh . They released a self-titled album in... 2002, which was a mixture of punk, grunge, and country, taking all of their previous backgrounds and putting them together. They later broke up in 2003, after their debut album flopped. Kirkwood and Gaugh went on to form Volcano. The album is currently out of print. Eyes Adrift, the band's only album, was released on September 24, 2002. "Alaska" was the album's only single, released on March 3, 2003 in the UK. "Inquiring Minds" is dedicated to JonBenét Ramsey. The Japanese edition of the album, released on January 29, 2003 includes two additional tracks; "Son of Pasted" and "The Cup & The Lip". The Australian edition of the album is not called "Eyes Adrift" but oddly enough "Bud, Curt & Krist". The CD single to "Alaska", released on December 2, 2003 includes the tracks: "The Jerk" and "The Cup & the Lip".

The No WTO Combo was a one-shot punk rock band started by Krist Novoselic . The band consisted of Jello Biafra ; guitartist Kim Thayil of... Soundgarden; and the rhythm section of Sweet 75, with Gina Mainwal on drums and Novoselic on bass. They were originally scheduled to play the Showbox November 30, the night before the WTO meeting of 1999 in Seattle, but the performance was canceled because the venue's staff could not get past the police "curfew zone". They rescheduled the show for the next night, December 1, but Biafra and Novoselic played a short acoustic set that night down the street at The Central Tavern, where Biafra was approached by local record producer Mark Cavener. Cavener offered to record the album at the Showbox the next evening. The performance itself would be the first formal concert played by Thayil since the demise of Soundgarden a few years beforehand, and only the second time Biafra had played music in a planned live setting since the Dead Kennedys split in 1986.

spinART Records is a now-defunct New York City-based independent record label that released recordings by artists such as The Apples in Stereo, Clem Snide, Frank Black and Michael Penn. The label was started by Joel Morowitz and Jeff Price in 1991. spinART filed for bankruptcy in April 2007 and... went out of business. Jeff Price is now CEO of digital music distributor TuneCore. Joel Morowitz is the owner of Ecstatic Electric pro audio.

Geffen Records is an American record label, owned by Universal Music Group, and operated as one third of UMG's Interscope-Geffen-A&M label group. Geffen Records was founded in 1980 by music industry businessman David Geffen who, in the early 1970s, had founded Asylum Records. Geffen stepped... down from Asylum in 1975, when he crossed over to film and was named a vice-president of Warner Brothers Pictures. He was fired from Warner circa 1978, but remained locked in a 5-year contract, preventing him from working elsewhere. He returned to work in 1980 and struck a deal with Warner Bros. Records to create Geffen Records. Warner provided 100 percent of the funding for the label's operations and distributed the label's releases in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom - CBS/Epic Records handled distribution in the rest of the world until 1985, when Warner Bros. also took over those territories. However, in the United Kingdom the label switched distribution from Warner Bros. to CBS in 1981. Profits were split 50/50 between Geffen and the respective distributors.
