The Kuala Lumpur Tower is a tall tower located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Its construction was finished in 1995. It is used for communication... purposes and features an antenna that reaches 421 m . The roof of the pod is at 335 m . The rest of the tower below has a stairwell and an elevator to reach the upper area, which also contains a revolving restaurant, providing diners a panoramic view of the city. Races are organised yearly where participants race up the stairs to the top. The tower also acts as the Islamic falak observatory to observe the crescent moon which marks the beginning of Muslim month of Ramadhan, Syawal, and Zulhijjah, to celebrate fasting month of Ramadhan, Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Aidiladha. The tower is the landmark of Kuala Lumpur with nearby Petronas Towers. The construction of the KL Tower which began on 4th October 1991, was a 3-phase process. The first phase was the widening of Jalan Bukit Nanas and the excavation of soil from the construction site.

The National Mosque of Malaysia is located in Kuala Lumpur. It has a capacity of 15,000 people and is situated among 13 acres of beautiful gardens.... The original structure was designed by a three-person team from the Public Works Department - UK architect Howard Ashley, and Malaysians Hisham Albakri and Baharuddin Kassim. The mosque was built in 1965 on the site of a church, the Venning Road Brethren Gospel Hall which had stood there since 1922 but appropriated by the Malaysian government. The mosque is a bold and modern approach in reinforced concrete, symbolic of the aspirations of a then newly-independent Malaysia. Its key features are a 73-metre-high minaret and an 16-pointed star concrete main roof. The umbrella, synonymous with the tropics, is featured conspicuously - the main roof is reminiscent of an open umbrella, the minaret's cap a folded one. The folded plates of the concrete main roof is a creative solution to achieving the larger spans required in the main gathering hall. Reflecting pools and fountains spread throughout the compound. Malaya gained its independence from the British government on 31 August 1957.

The Thean Hou Temple is a landmark six-tiered Chinese temple in Kuala Lumpur. It is located on a 1.67 acres of land atop Robson Heights along... Lorong Bellamy, overlooking Jalan Syed Putra . It was completed in 1987 and officially opened in 1989. The property belongs to and is run by the Selangor & Federal Territory Hainan Association . The temple, built by the Hainanese community living in Kuala Lumpur, is dedicated to Goddess Tian Hou . Thean Hou temple was constructed between 1981 and 1987 at a cost of approximately 7 million Ringgit. The installation dates of the Goddesses are as follows: The temple was officially opened on 3 September 1989. This syncretic temple with elements of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism is a grandiose structure and represents a successful combination of modern architectural techniques and authentic traditional design featuring imposing pillars, spectacular roofs, ornate carvings and intricate embellishments.

The Kuala Lumpur Bird Park is a 20.9-acre public aviary in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is a popular tourist attraction in the country, receiving an... average of 200,000 visitors every year. It is located adjacent to the Lake Gardens. The Bird Park houses more than 3000 birds representing more than 200 species, in an enclosed aviary. Out of these birds, 90% are local birds and 10% were imported from overseas. The bird park is part of the 60-hectare Lake Gardens, which were established in 1888. In addition to the 20.9-acre bird park, which was created in 1991, the gardens include an artificial lake, the National Monument, a Butterfly House, Orchid and Hibiscus gardens, and the former Malaysia Parliament House. Bird-watching is a common activity here where the flora and fauna is rich. The Kuala Lumpur Bird Park has earned the reputation among those who are keen on the study of birds in their natural habitat. Some of them include research scientists who monitor bird nests for the study of behavioral patterns. Visitors can get to the park by bus or by train.

When she was 17, she sang at a friend's party and was spotted by a music producer, who invited her to do a demo. Sheila auditioned for Roslan Aziz and was given a contract in 1982. However, it took another three years before she released her first album in 1985 Dimensi Baru, which subsequently went gold.

Peter Madden was a British actor who was born in Kuala Lumpur in Malaya. Madden was a character actor who made several notable appearances in Hammer... films. His was a familiar face in British film and television during the 1950s and 1960s. He appeared as the innkeeper Bruno in The Kiss of the Vampire and as the stern Police Chief in Frankenstein Created Woman . His last Hammer role was brief, as a coach driver in Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell . Madden's other film roles included The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner , From Russia with Love , Dr. Terror's House of Horrors , Dr Zhivago and One of Our Dinosaurs Is Missing . Jenny Eclair is an English comedian, novelist and actor. Eclair was born as Jenny Clare Hargreaves to English parents in Kuala Lumpur, Malaya where... her father, Derek Hargreaves, who served as a major in the British Army, serving in the Royal Marines, Parachute Regiment, Green Howards, Trucial Oman Scouts, and BRIXMIS, had been posted in 1952. Eclair returned to England when she was two years old, and she started her education at Queen Mary school in Lytham St Annes. She studied at the Manchester Polytechnic School of Theatre and joined a cabaret group variously referred to as Kathy Lacreme and the Rum Babas, and Cathy La Crème and the Rum Babies. Then she saw an advert in 'The Stage' looking for novelty acts, and she found work doing punk poems. In 1989, when she was named the Time Out Cabaret Award winner, she said it "was nice because its the first time I've ever won without having to run 100 metres balancing an egg on a spoon.

Dulcie Gray, CBE was a British singer and actress of stage, screen and television, a mystery writer and lepidopterist. Gray was born in Kuala... Lumpur, British Malaya in 1915, although she would later shave four years off her age, and attended school in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, later returning to Malaya to teach. After her father's death, she came back to England. Following a brief period at art school, she enrolled at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, where she met fellow actor Michael Denison, whom she married in 1939. The couple were together for 59 years before his death from cancer in 1998. They had no children. The couple's professional careers were intertwined and they frequently appeared on stage together. Between them they starred in more than 100 West End plays and in the 1940s and 1950s, were familiar figures in British films. Onscreen they co-starred in My Brother Jonathan and The Glass Mountain in 1948, The Franchise Affair in 1950 and the Battle of Britain movie Angels One Five in 1952.

Peter Arne was a British character actor best known for various performances in British film and television, including supporting roles in the... television series The Avengers, Danger Man, as well as villains in Blake Edwards' Pink Panther series, in a career that spanned 40 years. Arne was born in Kuala Lumpur, British Malaya, to a Swiss-French mother and an American father, and gained his early acting experience in British provincial repertory. In 1953, the New Lindsey Theatre Club performed his play No Stranger. From the mid-1950s onwards, he developed a successful career playing a broad range of supporting roles in both film and television often with a specialisation in playing unsmiling villains such as German officers. In addition to acting, he ran his own antiques business. In 1968, he played the dual roles of The Duke and Dr. Sanson Carrasco in the London stage production of Man of La Mancha. In the 1960s and 1970s, Arne was a busy character actor on television. He appeared in several ITC adventure series including four episodes of The Avengers as different characters each time.
