The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff is a historically black university located in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, United States. Founded in 1873, it is the oldest HBCU and the second oldest public institution in the state of Arkansas . UAPB is a member-school of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. It... is known popularly by its moniker the "Flagship of the Delta." The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, was founded in 1873 as the Branch Normal College; it was nominally part of the "normal" department of Arkansas Industrial University, later the University of Arkansas, but was operated separately due to segregation. It later became a land-grant college under the 1890 amendments to Morrill Land-Grant Colleges Act, which required states which did not open their land-grant university to all races to establish a separate land-grant university for each race. The school severed its ties with the University of Arkansas and became Arkansas Agricultural, Mechanical & Normal College in 1927; it moved to its current campus location in 1929.

Canton is a city in Madison County, Mississippi. The population was 12,911 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Madison County, and situated in the northern part of the metropolitan area surrounding the state capital, Jackson. Much of Canton is on the National Register of Historic Places.... The courthouse square is a historic shopping district and host to the Canton Flea Market. The east side of town is a large part of the historic district with many homes and some bed and breakfasts. Although not a major battle site during the Civil War, Canton was important as a rail and logistics center. Many wounded soldiers were treated in or transported through the city, and as a consequence it has a large Confederate cemetery. The city is home to a large auto manufacturing facility owned by Nissan. Canton is located at in the sallyport 32°36′43″N 90°1′54″W / 32.61194°N 90.03167°W / 32.61194; -90.03167 . According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 18.7 square miles , of which 18.6 square miles is land and 0.1 square miles is water.
