The Church of the Good Shepherd is an historic Episcopal church building located at 715 Kirkman Street in Lake Charles, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana,... United States. Designed by noted Dallas architect C.W. Bulger in the Gothic Revival style of architecture, it was built of stone in 1896. On December 22, 1983, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. The Church of the Good Shepherd is an active parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Western Louisiana.

State University Cowboys basketball team until the Burton Coliseum opened in 1976. It is named after Ralph O. Ward, who was head coach of the basketball team from 1952 to 1971.

Burton Coliseum is a 6,500-seat multi-purpose arena, with 2,000 in temporary seating in Lake Charles, Louisiana. It was built in 1976 and is home to... the McNeese State University Cowboys basketball team. It hosted the Southland Conference men's basketball tournament in 2002. The arena has 24,000 square feet of space with an additional 160,000 square feet of space at the Livestock and Exhibit Building, with 50,000 more square feet of space at the 1,000-seat Burton Agricultural Arena. The arena contains a domed roof and stands 105 feet from the floor to the top of the roof. Additional uses for Burton Coliseum include rodeos, equestrian events, concerts , trade shows, and conventions. The coliseum is used for the Louisiana Region 5 Science & Engineering Fair every year. At each semester's end, McNeese State University hosts its graduation there. It is also used for graduations for some high schools in the area.

Cowboy Stadium is a 17,410-seat multi-purpose stadium in Lake Charles, Louisiana. It is home to the McNeese State University Cowboys football team,... and is affectionately referred to as "The Hole". It was transformed for the 2008 season to artificial turf. A new state of the art field house is currently being constructed. It will be nearly double its current size, and will include climate-controlled seating and a club room.

Anthony Robert "Tony" Kushner is an American playwright and screenwriter. He received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1993 for his play Angels in... America: A Gay Fantasia on National Themes and co-authored with Eric Roth the screenplay for the 2005 film Munich. Kushner was born in Manhattan, New York to Jewish clarinetist and conductor William Kushner and bassoonist Sylvia Deutscher. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana, the seat of Calcasieu Parish where he spent his childhood. During high school Kushner had a reputation in policy debate, at one point going to a camp, and making it to the final rounds. Kushner moved to New York in 1974 to begin his undergraduate college education at Columbia University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Medieval Studies in 1978. He attended New York University's Graduate Acting Program at the Tisch School of the Arts, graduating in 1984.

He also portrayed a potential boyfriend of Charisma Carpenter's character, Jane, in the ABC Family television movie See Jane Date.

Nellie Lutcher was an African-American R&B and jazz singer and pianist, who gained prominence in the late 1940s and early 1950s. She was most... recognizable for her diction and exaggerated pronunciation, and was credited as an influence by Nina Simone among others. She was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, the eldest daughter of the 15 children of Isaac and Suzie Lutcher. Her father was a bass player, and her mother a church organist. She received piano lessons, and her father formed a family band with Nellie playing piano. At age 12, she played with Ma Rainey, when Rainey's regular pianist fell ill and had to be left behind in the previous town. Searching for a temporary replacement in Lake Charles, one of the neighbors told her there was a little girl who played in church who might be able to do it. Aged 14, Lutcher joined her father in Clarence Hart's Imperial Jazz Band, and in her mid-teens also briefly married the band's trumpet player. In 1933, she joined the Southern Rhythm Boys, writing their arrangements and touring widely. In 1935, she moved to Los Angeles, where she married Leonel Lewis and had a son.

Queen Ida's... music is an eclectic mix of R&B, Caribbean, and Cajun, though the presence of her accordion always keeps it traditional. Queen Ida is a proud Creole woman, Born Ida Lewis Guillory to a musically talented family in Lake Charles, Queen Ida learned to play accordion from her mother after she spent a few years learning the piano. Her family moved to Beaumont, Texas, when she was ten and eight years later moved to San Francisco, California. Her first language is French, and wherever they went, took their Creole culture and music with them. Queen Ida and her band played at the Monterey Jazz Festival in 1976 and 1988, and the San Francisco Blues Festival in 1975, 1978, and 1991. In 1988, Queen Ida toured Japan, becoming the first zydeco artist to do so. She toured Africa the following year and in 1990 went to Australia and New Zealand. On the CD album, Back on the Bayou , Queen Ida got together on the bayou in Louisiana with her brother, Al Rapone, for a zydeco reunion.

Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Hilton has announced numerous game shows, such as Card Sharks, Child's Play, Trivia Trap, The $25,000 Pyramid, The $100,000 Pyramid, Blockbusters, Double Talk, The Newlywed Game, The Dating Game, Win, Lose or Draw, and Body Language. His first game show announcing assignment was in 1980 on Tic-Tac-Dough , followed by The Joker's Wild and Play the Percentages, after he began a contract with Barry & Enright Productions, that same year. Hilton also substituted on The Price Is Right following the death of its original announcer, Johnny Olson. Hilton got his start in Louisiana at station KPLC. He traveled around to various stations as news anchor/reporter, such as in Honolulu, Hawaii, KTRK-TV in Houston, KGAN-TV in Cedar Rapids, WNAC-TV in Boston , and KHJ-TV in Los Angeles. He later went on to KOVR in Sacramento, California.

Chris Ardoin is a zydeco accordionist and singer. He is one of the young artists that helped form nouveau zydeco, a new style of music that fused... traditional zydeco with various styles including hip-hop, reggae and R&B. He was a child prodigy belonging to a musical dynasty . He started with the accordion at the age of two and grew up listening to zydeco only for the most part until he was in his teens. When he was just ten, with a help from his father Lawrence, he formed the Double Clutchin' zydeco band with his elder brother Sean Ardoin on drums. In 1994, the band released their debut album That's Da Lick from Maison de Soul label. Though it was Sean who handled all the vocals and songwriting, the album was credited to Chris as they considered putting younger Chris in front would draw more attention to the band. Chris came more into the center of the spotlight in the follow-up effort Lick It Up! released a year later, sharing vocals and songwriting duties with Sean.

Since 1988 he has appeared in over 53 films, including Powder, Simply Irresistible and D-Tox.

Kyle Henry Hebert is an American voice actor and podcaster who works for anime series, and video games, best known for voicing the adult version of... Gohan and the Narrator in the Funimation English dub of the Japanese anime Dragon Ball Z. Hebert got his start in the mid 1990s as a disc jockey for Radio Disney, under the pseudonym Squeege. This lasted until September 2005, when he moved from Dallas to Los Angeles, to pursue bigger interests in the world of voice acting. Kyle has also had cameo roles in various anime dubs such as Case Closed, Fruits Basket, One Piece, and Kodocha, and a recurring role in Fullmetal Alchemist. Kyle's current list of recurring roles includes Kiba Inuzuka on Naruto, Sōsuke Aizen and Ganju Shiba in Bleach, and Kamina in Gurren Lagann. Philip Baptiste was encouraged to pursue a career as a singer after a school performance of a song called "Sweet Slumber". He performed with his brothers in a gospel group called the Gateway Quartet and worked as a bellhop before he recorded "Sea of Love" in 1959. The song was arranged and produced by Eddie Shuler for neighbor George Khoury's Khoury Records. After three months of work on the arrangement, building up the vocal group and trying out different musicians, the song was ready for release. Baptiste changed his name to Phil Phillips, and dubbed his backing vocalists The Twilights. After a Baton Rouge disc jockey played the song repeatedly, the recording sold heavily and was leased to Mercury Records. "Sea of Love" went to #2 in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 pop chart and spent 14 weeks in the top 40, as well as reaching #1 on the R&B chart. In 1959 it sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc.
