The City of Lamar is a Home Rule Municipality that is the county seat and the most populous city of Prowers County, Colorado, United States. The city population was 8,869 at the U.S. Census 2000. The northern site of the Pierre Auger Observatory of ultra-high energy cosmic rays is planned to be built near Lamar.
