Red Hat Acquisitions

Red Hat is an American computer software company based in Raleigh, North Carolina. The company was founded in 1995, when ACC Corporation, a company founded by Bob Young in 1993, and Red Hat Linux, an operating system created by Marc Ewing, merged to form Red Hat Software. Young was appointed chief executive officer. Red Hat had its initial public offering on August 11, 1999. It was the eighth-biggest first-day gain in Wall Street history. The company has acquired fourteen companies and made four divestments. Red Hat has not released the financial details for most of these mergers and acquisitions.
