The Arkansas State Capitol Building, located in Little Rock, is the main house of government of the state of Arkansas. In 1899, the St. Louis... architect George R. Mann visited the governor of Arkansas Daniel W. Jones, and presented his drawings of his winning competition design for the Montana State Capitol, which had not been built. They were hung on the walls of the old Capitol to generate interest in a new building. The drawings' attractiveness eased the passage of the bills for the new building, and also drew attention to the architect. In 1899, Mann was selected as architect by a seven-member commission that included future governor George W. Donaghey. Donaghey opposed Mann's selection and advocated a national design competition, but the majority of the commission voted for Mann. Construction took 16 years – from 1899 to 1915. The Capitol was built on the site of the state penitentiary and prisoners helped construct the building. They lived in a dormitory that was left on the Capitol grounds while construction was taking place. The Capitol construction site was aligned incorrectly by the builder, future Governor George Donaghey, due to his failure to use surveying instruments.

The Dunaway House at 2022 Battery in the Central High School Neighborhood Historic District of Little Rock, Arkansas was designed by Charles L.... Thompson in 1915. It is an impressive example of the Craftsman Style as interpreted by the Thompson architectural firm. Rich in the use of textures, this two-story brick home features a steep gable roof of terra-cotta composition. Terra-cotta tile covers the roof of the dominant front portico which features an arched entrance. Thompson's sensitivity to the siting of this residence is virtually unequaled with the varied textures harmonizing with those in the natural environment. The deep, shaded porch was designed to convey a feeling of privacy. A large home, the Craftsman Dunaway House is an imposing yet dignified component in its setting. The house is located on a two block landscaped boulevard section of Battery Street. This short section is one of the more picturesque areas of residences in the immediate neighborhood with the Dunaway House serving as a key component to its attractiveness.

Helen Gurley Brown , is an author, publisher, and businesswoman. She was editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan magazine for 32 years. Brown was born to... parents Cleo and Ira Marvin Gurley. Her mother was born in Alpena, Arkansas and died in 1980. Her father was once appointed Commissioner of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. The family moved to Little Rock, Arkansas after Ira won an election to the Arkansas state legislature. He died in an elevator accident on June 18, 1932. In 1937, Brown, her sister Mary, and their mother moved to Los Angeles, California. A few months after moving, Mary contracted polio. While in California, Brown attended John H. Francis Polytechnic High School. After Brown's graduation, the family moved to Warm Springs, Georgia. Brown attended one semester at Texas State College for Women and then moved back to California to attend Woodbury Business College. She graduated in 1941. In 1947, Cleo and Mary moved to Osage, Arkansas while Brown stayed in Los Angeles.

Amy Lynn Hartzler , best known as Amy Lee, is an American singer-songwriter and classically trained pianist. She is co-founder and lead vocalist of... the rock band Evanescence. She cites influences ranging from classical musicians such as Mozart to modern artists Björk, Tori Amos, Danny Elfman and Plumb. Nicknamed "The Human Vacuum Cleaner", he is generally acclaimed as the greatest defensive third-basemen in major league history. He won 16 consecutive Gold Glove Awards during his career, tied with pitcher Jim Kaat for the second most all-time for any player at any position. Robinson was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1983. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas to Brooks Calbert and Ethel Mae Robinson. His father worked for a large bakery in Little Rock, Colonial Bakery, and then went to work for the Little Rock Fire Department , while his mother at first worked for Sears Roebuck & Company, and then in the controller's office at the state capitol. His father played second base for a semi-pro team. Young Brooks Robinson, Jr., delivered the Arkansas Gazette on his bike, and also operated the scoreboard and sold soft drinks at Lamar Porter Field.

Gerard was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to a college instructor mother and a salesman father. While attending Little Rock Catholic High School for Boys, he was involved in acting. He worked at a Kroger grocery store in his teens. In 1960, he attended Maryknoll Seminary, in Glen Ellyn, Illinois and played the title role in an all male production of The Music Man. He attended the University of Central Arkansas but dropped out before graduation. Gerard landed a job as an industrial chemist, and within a few years he became regional manager of a large chemical company headed by governor Winthrop Rockefeller. Gerard's employers said they would name him the firm's vice president if he went for his master's degree, so he quit rather than tell everyone that he did not have a college degree. He then went to New York where he studied drama by day and drove a taxicab at night. Gerard picked up a fare who showed a lively interest in the problems of unknown, unemployed actors.

Rock, Arkansas, Adler grew up mostly in New York City. Her grandfather, Alfred Adler, was a noted psychotherapist and the founder of the school of individual psychology. Adler received a bachelor of arts in political science from the University of California, Berkeley and a master's degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York in 1970. She was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University in 1982. Adler first worked for WBAI, FM 99.5, the Pacifica Radio outlet in New York City. She created the talk shows Hour of the Wolf in 1972 and later Unstuck in Time. Adler joined NPR in 1979 as a general assignment reporter, after spending a year as an NPR freelance reporter covering New York City, and has since worked on a great many pieces dealing with subjects as diverse as the death penalty, the right to die movement, the response to the war in Kosovo, computer gaming, the drug ecstasy, geek culture, children and technology, and Pokémon.

Davis was born in Gurdon, Arkansas, and first became interested in acting at a young age, when his parents operated and owned a movie theatre. He specifically enjoyed Tyrone Power movies, stating later that they were what inspired his desire to act. His first acting job was at the age of 11, when he was cast on a local Little Rock broadcast program called Betty's Little Rascals. Davis graduated from Hall High School in Little Rock in 1963. He studied at the Arkansas Arts Center, followed by work with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, and six years with the American Conservatory Theatre -- during his time at ACT, he also taught acting.

Corin "Corky" Nemec is an American actor. Nemec is known for playing the title character on Parker Lewis Can't Lose, Jonas Quinn on Stargate SG-1,... and Harold Lauder in the ABC miniseries The Stand. Nemec's mother was a graphic artist as well as a painter, writer and poet. His father, Joseph Charles Nemec III, worked in the film industry as a set designer and production designer. His grandmother, Nancy Reed, nicknamed him "Corky". He is still close friends with fellow late-1980s teen heartthrobs and rappers Brian Austin Green and David Faustino of Married with Children fame, the latter with whom he has a production company and is currently costarring in Star-ving, a webseries spoofing HBO's Entourage and airing on Crackle. He enjoys reading non-fiction and listening to instrumental East Indian music. According to the Scientology community web site and Nemec's personal web site, he is a member of the cult. According to the website for Perfect Union Lodge #10 in San Antonio, Texas, Joseph C. Nemec IV is also a Master Mason of the Freemasonic Order, having joined the Lodge in 2000.

James Luther "Jim" Dickinson was an American record producer, pianist, and singer who fronted, among others, the Memphis based band, Mudboy &... The Neutrons. Jim Dickinson moved to Memphis, Tennessee at an early age. After attending school at Baylor University, he returned to Memphis and played on recording sessions for Bill Justis, and at Chips Moman's American Studios. Dickinson recorded what has been called the last great record on the Sun label, "Cadillac Man" b/w "My Babe" by the Jesters, playing piano and singing lead on both sides, even though he was not an actual member of the group. In the late 1960s, Dickinson joined with fellow Memphis musicians Charlie Freeman, Michael Utley, Tommy McClure and Sammy Creason; this group became known as the "Dixie Flyers" and provided backup for musicians recording for Atlantic Records. Perhaps their best-known work was for Aretha Franklin's 1970 Spirit in the Dark. In December 1969, Dickinson played piano on The Rolling Stones' track "Wild Horses" at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Alabama, although it wasn't released until 1971, and in that year on The Flamin Groovies' album Teenage Head.

Frank Bonner is an American actor and television director best known for playing sales manager Herb Tarlek on the television sitcom WKRP in... Cincinnati. Bonner was born Frank Woodrow Boers, Jr., in Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of Grace Marie , a singer, and Frank Woodrow Boers, a saxophone player. Bonner started his acting career in the 1970 cult classic Equinox . He reprised Tarlek in the 1991 spinoff The New WKRP in Cincinnati, and in a 2004 rock video for Canadian indie rock band Rheostatics . From 1988-1990, Bonner played the role of "Father Hargis," headmaster of the fictional St. Augustine's Academy on the TV show Just the Ten of Us. . Bonner has also directed episodes of many TV sitcoms, including Who's the Boss?, Head of the Class, Evening Shade and every episode of the NBC Saturday morning sitcom City Guys.
