Point Vicente Lighthouse is a lighthouse in California, United States, in Palos Verdes, north of Los Angeles Harbor, California. It is between Point... Loma Lighthouse to the south and Point Conception Lighthouse to the north. The lighthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Point Vicente Lighthouse was built in 1926 on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. The light source was dimmed during World War II to avoid aiding the enemy. It was automated in 1971 by the United States Coast Guard. The original third order Fresnel lens still revolves in the lantern room. The Point Vicente Lighthouse is an important landmark and beacon light relied upon by thousands of ships and pleasure craft. It provides a means of fixing their position, and ensuring their safe passage up and down the coast. The Point Vicente Light Station has been guiding sailing vessels to and from the Los Angeles/Long Beach Harbors since March 1926. It was first operated and maintained by the United States Lighthouse Service for 13 years prior to the service being merged with the U.S. Coast Guard, which was delegated all aid-to-navigation responsibilities in 1939.

Los Cerritos Ranch House, also known as Rancho Los Cerritos or Casa de los Cerritos, in Long Beach, California, was "the largest and most impressive... adobe residence erected in southern California during the Mexican period". Los Cerritos means "the little hills" in English. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1970. The structure, a Monterey Colonial adobe, was built in 1844 by merchant Jonathan Temple, a Yankee pioneer who became a Mexican citizen. The house was once the headquarters for a 27,000-acre ranch; the major activity on the ranch was cattle and sheep. The land was part of the 167,000-acre Rancho Los Nietos land grant to Manuel Nieto that was eventually divided into six parcels, one of which was Rancho los Cerritos. In 1843, Temple purchased the rancho and built the adobe house in 1844 as headquarters for his cattle operations. In 1866, Temple sold the rancho to Flint, Bixby & Co. which converted the ranch from cattle to sheep. Jotham Bixby, the brother of one of the company's founders, managed and resided at the ranch from 1866-1871.

The First National Bank building in Long Beach, California is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The original bank building had... three stories, which were surpassed in 1906 with the current building, designed by Los Angeles architects Robert F. Train and Robert E. Williams. The distinctive clock tower with its six-foot-diameter clock face was added in 1907. The structure was designed in a French Renaissance Revival style utilizing pressed yellow brick on the street sides and common red brick on the remaining two sides. A number of bank tenants have occupied the building, including : It has also been known by other names, including the Metropolitan Building and the Enloe Building. During the 1950s, many of the original decorative elements such as the decorative cornice were removed or covered as part of modernizations efforts. In the 1980s, federal tax incentives motivated a project to restore the building to its original look and to repair the clock tower. The Long Beach Museum of Art is a museum located on Ocean Boulevard in the Bluff Park neighborhood of Long Beach, California. The museum occupies the... historic 1912 Elizabeth Milbank Anderson house and carriage house and a new two-story pavilion, and includes oceanfront gardens. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday, 11am-5pm. Admission is free to the museum on Fridays . Strengths in the permanent collection include American decorative arts objects, early 20th century European art, California Modernism, and contemporary art of California. The museum also has an oceanview café with outdoor tables, Claire's at the Museum, that is open for lunch on weekdays, and also has a popular weekend brunch. The restaurant is named in honor of Claire Falkenstein, an American sculptor who created the restaurant's centerpiece, Structure and Flow, a fountain with twisting latticework, which was donated to the museum in 1972. The museum is a member of the North American Reciprocal Museums program.

The Museum of Latin American Art was founded by Dr. Robert Gumbiner in 1996 in Long Beach, California and serves the greater Los Angeles area. MoLAA... is the only museum in the United States exclusively dedicated to modern and contemporary Latin American art. Since its inception, MoLAA has doubled its size, added a 15,000 sq. ft. sculpture garden and expanded its permanent collection, ranging from works by Tamayo and Matta to Cruz-Diez, Los Carpinteros and Tunga. The museum offers a significant permanent collection as well as educational and cultural programs to its visitors. The museum is located in the city’s rapidly developing East Village Arts District. Between 1913 and 1918 the site that the museum now occupies was the home of the Balboa Amusement Producing Company, then the world’s most productive and innovative silent film studio. Before there was a Hollywood, Balboa was the king of the silver screen, producing as much as 20,000 feet of negative film a week. The building that was renovated as MoLAA’s Entertainment / Education / Special Event venue may have been part of the old Balboa film studio.

Rancho Los Alamitos takes its name from a Mexican land grant in southwestern Los Angeles County and northwestern Orange County, California. Los... Alamitos means the Little Cottonwoods or Poplars in Spanish, after the native Fremont Cottonwood trees there. Rancho Los Alamitos originally included much of present-day eastern Long Beach and all of the Orange County cities/communities of Los Alamitos and Rossmoor and most of Seal Beach, Cypress, Stanton and Garden Grove in Southern California. It is also sometimes referred to as Bixby Ranch, after its last private owners. The early 19th century adobe ranch house, still stands today, housing a museum which presents the history of the area. The history of the 85,000-acre Rancho Los Alamitos is almost a microcosm for the history of expansion throughout Southern California, from the Native Americana cultures to contemporary times. The area was first the location of the major circa 500 C.E. - 1780s Tongva—Gabrieliño sacred cere­monial and trading village of Povuu'nga, now an archeological site. After Spanish occupation the ownership was to change and the boundaries would shrink many times.

Derek's parents divorced, and her mother married American stunt performer Bobby Bass. Derek attended Narbonne High School in Harbor City, California. She then attended George S. Patton Continuation School, which is adjacent to Narbonne. Her first acting job was a leading role in her husband, John Derek's R-rated film, Fantasies, which was filmed in 1973. However, the film wasn't easy to get a studio to buy; it was released to theaters in 1981.

Thelma Houston is an American singer-songwriter and actress. She scored a number-one hit in 1977 with her cover version of the song "Don't Leave Me... This Way", which won the 1978 Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. Houston is the daughter of a cotton picking mother. She and her three sisters grew up primarily in Long Beach, California. After marrying and having two children, she joined the Art Reynolds Singers gospel group and was subsequently signed as a recording artist with Dunhill Records. In 1969, Houston released her debut album, entitled Sunshower, produced by Jimmy Webb. In 1971 she signed with Motown Records but her early recordings with them were largely unsuccessful. Her most notable single during that period was "You've Been Doing Wrong for So Long" which peaked at #64 on the U.S. Billboard R&B chart in 1974. However Houston's vocal prowess on that track secured her a nomination for a Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. In April 1974 Houston joined the cast of The Marty Feldman Comedy Machine, playing various characters during the shows skits.

Norman Eugene Walker, known as Clint Walker , is an American actor best known for his cowboy role as "Cheyenne Bodie" in the TV Western series,... Cheyenne. Walker was born in Hartford, Illinois; he was a twin, and is of one-quarter Cherokee descent. He left school to work at a factory and on a river boat, then joined the United States Merchant Marine at the age of seventeen in the last months of World War II. After leaving the Merchant Marine, he labored at odd jobs in Brownwood, Texas, Long Beach, California, and Las Vegas, where he worked as a doorman at the Sands Hotel. He also was employed as a sheet-metal worker and a nightclub bouncer. In Los Angeles, he was hired by Cecil B. DeMille to appear in The Ten Commandments. A friend in the film industry helped get him a few bit parts that brought him to the attention of Warner Bros., which was developing a western style television series. Walker's good looks and imposing physique, he stood 6 feet, 6 inches tall with a 48-inch chest and a 32-inch waist, helped him to land an audition where he won the lead role in the TV series Cheyenne.

Iglesias appeared in season 6 of the Nickelodeon sketch comedy series All That in 2000. Iglesias' comedy employs a mixture of storytelling, parody, characters, and sound effects that bring his personal issues to life. He often references about his weight, talking, for example, about how little dancing it takes for him to work up a sweat at the nightclub, or how hearing his girlfriend coo the words "chocolate cake" over the telephone works in a manner akin to phone sex for him.

John Paul "J. P." Calderon is an American professional volleyball player, model and reality television participant. He first appeared on television... as a contestant on Survivor: Cook Islands, the 13th season of the CBS reality show. Later, he returned to television by appearing in several seasons of The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency. As part of his experience there he made an appearance in the February 2007 cover story of Instinct magazine. Calderon was born in Santa Monica, California and grew up in Marina del Rey, California in a Roman Catholic family. He attended St. Bernard’s Catholic High School and then California State University, Long Beach, where he played for the school's nationally-ranked men's volleyball team. He graduated with a degree in speech communication in 2000. Calderon is of Costa Rican descent. Calderon was an assistant coach for the Long Beach State University women's volleyball team for five years. He began his professional volleyball career in 2004 and became a nationally ranked Association of Volleyball Professionals player. On Survivor: Cook Islands, Calderon started off as one of five members of the Hispanic "Aitutaki" tribe.

Abe Cunningham, , is an American musician, he is the drummer of the alternative metal band Deftones. He is known for his use of ghost notes and other... technical drumming techniques. Abe Cunningham was born in Long Beach, California. When he was young, his family moved to Sacramento. He first started drumming in his early teens playing the drums for his band Phallucy in the early 90s. During this time, he also drummed for the Deftones on the side, when the band was having problems landing a permanent and dedicated drummer. At the time when he started learning drums, he also learned how to play guitar, but growing up with a stepfather who played the drums, he took a deeper passion with the drums. Abe's father, Sid, was also a musician and an early influence for Abe before his untimely passing. His influences include Stewart Copeland, Ginger Baker and Mitch Mitchell. Cunningham is known for his frantic, pounding rhythms on such songs as "Knife Party" and clever usage of tempo , while at the same time refusing to indulge in the double bass drum setup of many metal traditionalists.

Warren G , is an American West Coast rapper and hip hop producer. He is also Dr. Dre's step-brother. His biggest hit is the song "Regulate" with Nate... Dogg released in 1994. Warren G is a former member of the Long Beach Rollin' 20's Neighborhood Crips . In 1990, Warren G formed the group 213 with Nate Dogg and Snoop Dogg, known as Snoop Doggy Dogg at the time. They were in search of a record deal and in 1992, Warren G introduced the group to his stepbrother Dr. Dre, who was impressed. However, only Snoop Dogg and eventually the late Nate Dogg were signed to Dre and Suge Knight's record label, Death Row Records. Warren G was left without a record deal and thus pursued a solo career. Although Death Row Records did not sign him, he made major contributions to Dr. Dre's album The Chronic, released in December 1992, including discovering many of the popular samples utilized in the album, including "Nothin' But a G-Thang" and many others.

Right after Clarksons's family moved back to Los Angeles County, Lana pursued a career in entertainment industry as a performer and fashion model. Zacarías Manuel "Zack" de la Rocha is an American rapper, musician, poet, and activist best known as the vocalist and lyricist of Rage Against... the Machine. Zack de la Rocha's father, Roberto "Beto" de la Rocha, played an integral part in his son's cultural upbringing. Beto was a Jewish muralist and member of Los Four — the first Chicano art collective to be exhibited at a museum . De la Rocha's grandfather was a Sinaloan revolutionary born in Cananea, Sonora, Mexico, who fought in the Mexican Revolution and worked as an agricultural labourer in the US. Later, de la Rocha would see the hardships his grandfather endured reflected in the struggles of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation.. When de la Rocha was a year old, his parents separated. He and his German-Irish mother, Olivia de la Rocha, moved from East Los Angeles to Irvine, California, where Olivia attended the University of California at Irvine and earned a Ph.D. in Anthropology. Zack described Irvine as "one of the most racist cities imaginable. If you were a Mexican in Irvine, you were there because you had a broom or a hammer in your hand.
