Graduating from Loyola High School, Los Angeles in 1973, he studied Communication Arts and English at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California, earning a bachelors degree in 1977 with a double major in those two fields. Always fascinated by sound, he became an expert in remixing for movies. His first professionally recorded sound was on Roots . Beemer was nominated for several Academy Awards, and as of 2007, has won Academy Awards for four films: Speed , Gladiator , Ray , and Dreamgirls .

Tony Plana is a Cuban-American actor and director. He is well known for playing Betty Suarez's father, Ignacio Suarez, on the ABC show Ugly Betty.... Plana was born in Havana. His family moved to Miami in 1960. He is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University and was trained in acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, United Kingdom. He has been married to actress Ada Maris since 1988 and they have two children. While he is known to a broad audience for his roles in feature films and television, Plana is also known for his skills in acting and directing for the stage. He has created and directed a number of productions of the works of Shakespeare for minority audiences and he has been active in both the Los Angeles and New York City theater communities, including leading appearances on Broadway and at New York City's Public Theater. He originated the role of Rudy in the L.A. production of the Luis Valdez play Zoot Suit, going on to play Rudy in the film version as well.

Brian Thomas Helgeland is an American screenwriter, film producer and director. He is most known for writing the screenplays for L.A. Confidential ,... Mystic River, and A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master. Helgeland was born in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Norwegian-born parents Karin and Thomas. His surname is Norwegian, named after a landscape in Northern Norway. A graduate of Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, he received his undergraduate degree at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. In 1998, Helgeland won both an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and a Razzie in the same year. Only one person had achieved the dubious feat before , and only one other has achieved it since. He accepted the Razzie and became only the fourth person in its history to be personally presented with the statuette. Helgeland wrote and directed the films A Knight's Tale and The Order .
