The follow-up to Q Entertainment's innovative puzzle/music game. Gamers control squares made of four smaller block pieces that are dropped into the playing field one at a time to form same-color squares. The vertical "timeline" sweeps across the playing field from left to right and wipes the same-color squares from the playing field. Unmatched blocks pile up, and the game ends when the pile gets to the top of the playing screen. Advance through many action-packed levels, each with its own musical theme and sound effects.
Lumines II is a game that feels fresh for the first few hours, but once the newness of the music wears off, it's pretty much the same as Lumines. It's still one of the best puzzle games of the year, but it's hard not to wish that the game played at least
When a game is as much to play as the first Lumines then it's hard to accept limited imitations packaged as new editions.
A deeper challenge mode, tons of new skins and loads of puzzles and missions are just the tip of the iceberg. Throw in the sequencer and Skin Edit mode, plus the ability to trade playlists with friends, and you have an almost perfect puzzler.
