Luton

Luton Town Football Club was formed in 1885 as an amalgamation of two local clubs, Excelsior and Luton Town Wanderers. On its formation, the merged... team adopted Excelsior's Dallow Lane stadium as its home ground. The club moved to Dunstable Road in 1897, and relocated again eight years later – settling at the newly constructed Kenilworth Road ground before the 1905–06 season. The first organised match of association football in Luton took place at Dallow Lane on 23 October 1880 – a fifteen-a-side match between Excelsior and Luton Rovers. Excelsior, a local works team, emerged as 2–0 victors and remained at the ground until the merger with Luton Town Wanderers in 1885 to become Luton Town Football Club. The new club decided to base itself at Excelsior's Dallow Lane. Dallow Lane, also known as the Excelsior Ground, had a capacity of about 7,000 – most spectators would simply stand behind a rope close to the pitch, and there was a seated grandstand constructed in 1894. The stand was "120 feet long, 18 feet high, 13 feet deep and [had] five tiers of seats".

Paul Antony Young. is an English pop musician. Formerly the frontman of the short-lived bands Kat Kool & The Kool Cats, Streetband and Q-Tips,... his following solo success turned him into a 1980s teenage pop idol. He was famous for hit singles such as "Love of the Common People", "Wherever I Lay My Hat ", "Come Back and Stay", "Everytime You Go Away" and "Oh Girl". His debut album No Parlez turned him into a household name. Since the mid-1980s he has had international success, along with his backing band Los Pacaminos. Young is also well thought of for performing the opening to the hit "Do They Know It's Christmas?" by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure's charity group Band Aid in 1984. The following year he appeared at Geldof and Ure's next charity convention Live Aid, where he appeared at the London Wembley Stadium performing the Band Aid hit "Do They Know It's Christmas", and his own hits "Come Back and Stay", "That's The Way Love Is" and "Everytime You Go Away", with Alison Moyet joining him on-stage to perform "That's The Way Love Is".

John MacDonald Badham is an English-born American film director, best known for Saturday Night Fever and WarGames . Badham was born in Luton,... Bedfordshire, United Kingdom, the son of Mary Iola , an actress, and Henry Lee Badham, a business executive and U.S. Air Force General. Badham was raised in the state of Alabama in the U.S. and became a naturalized citizen in 1950. He attended Indian Springs School in Alabama and college at Yale University. Badham had worked for television for years before his breakthrough in 1977 with Saturday Night Fever. Starring John Travolta, the film is recognized as the most representational of the 1970s disco era. WarGames , starring Matthew Broderick, is his other signature film, renowned for its take on popular Cold War fears of nuclear terror and holocaust as well amateur hacking. In addition to his numerous film credits, Badham has also directed and produced for TV, including credits for Rod Serling's Night Gallery and the A&E television series The Beast. He has also contributed commentary to the web series Trailers From Hell.

John Payne is a British musician, best known as the lead singer and bassist of Asia from 1992 to 2006 and from June 2007 with ASIA Featuring John... Payne. John Payne became the frontman of Asia in 1992 at the invitation of founding member Geoff Downes, replacing vocalist/bassist John Wetton. During Payne's tenure, ASIA released 8 studio albums, several live album and toured internationally. He is a founding and current member of modern progressive rock band GPS. He is also a guitarist, composer, recording engineer and record producer. His first band was called Moonstone. They toured the UK in the late seventies, opening for well-known groups such as Argent. In 1986, he recorded a silver selling record with the band CCCP in Scandinavia. CCCP was a group that featured John on lead vocals with Johnny Cash's stepdaughter Carlene Carter sharing vocal duties. He provided backing vocals on several solo albums by Roger Daltrey, including Under a Raging Moon and Can't Wait to See the Movie .

Colin Salmon is a British actor best known for playing the character Charles Robinson in three James Bond films. Salmon was born in Bethnal Green,... London, England, the son of Sylvia Ivy Brudenell Salmon, a nurse. He grew up in Luton and attended Ramridge Primary School and Ashcroft High School. He supports Luton Town F.C.. Salmon married Fiona Hawthorne in 1988; the two have four children: Sasha, Rudi, Eden and Ben. Salmon is a governor of Apple's Computer's notschool.net program and he was a guest call taker for the phone lines donations to the Prince's Trust 30th Birthday. In September 2010, Salmon was invited by his friend Samuel L. Jackson to Switzerland for Shooting Stars Benefits 2010 Golf Tournaments. The golf competition raised money for the Samuel L. Jackson Foundation and the Swiss Red Cross to go towards a new hospital in Takéo Province, one of Cambodia's poorest provinces. On leaving school, Salmon became the drummer in the punk rock band the Friction, which he formed along with three friends from Ashcroft High School. The band released a 7-inch EP, a live cassette, and a cassette-EP, and performed regularly around Luton in 1979 and 1980.

Clive William Bunker is a British rock drummer. He was the original drummer in the British band Jethro Tull. Bunker played in his first band The... Warriors in the 1960s. With Mick Abrahams he later formed the band known as McGregor's Engine. Between 1967 and 1971 he drummed for Jethro Tull, leaving after Tull's release of their album, Aqualung, to get married. He was replaced by Barriemore Barlow, a school friend of the group's singer/songwriter Ian Anderson. After his time with Jethro Tull he played with Blodwyn Pig, Robin Trower, Jude, Aviator, Jeff Pain , Manfred Mann, Jack Bruce, Gordon Giltrap, Anna Ryder, Uli Jon Roth, Electric Sun, Steve Hillage, Vikki Clayton, Solstice, Glenn Hughes and Jerry Donahue. Bunker's debut solo album, Awakening, was released in 1998.

Michael Timothy 'Mick' Abrahams was the original guitarist for Jethro Tull. He recorded the album This Was with the band in 1968, but conflicts... between Abrahams and Ian Anderson over the musical direction of the band led Abrahams to leave once the album was finished. Abrahams wanted to pursue a more blues/rock direction, while Anderson wanted to incorporate more overt folk and jazz influences. He was replaced first by Tony Iommi who would leave Tull after only a few weeks and would later go on to form Black Sabbath, and then by Martin Barre who remains with Jethro Tull to this day. Abrahams went on to found Blodwyn Pig and the group recorded two albums, Ahead Rings Out and Getting to This before breaking up in 1970. Abrahams soldiered on with the short-lived Wommet, then the Mick Abrahams Band and has continued to release albums by himself and with reunited versions of Blodwyn Pig. He has worked as a driver, lifeguard and financial consultant, occasionally playing gigs, especially to support causes in Dunstable, Bedfordshire.
