The University of North Carolina School of Law is a professional school within the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Established in 1845, Carolina Law is among the oldest law schools in the nation and is the oldest law school in North Carolina. It is consistently ranked in the top-tier... of law schools, and its 2012 US News and World Report ranking is 30th. Further, according to the US News and World Report, "Carolina Law " is among the top 10 public law schools in the Nation" -- and 17th in reputation among lawyers and judges and 20th among scholars. With an average J.D. class size of 250, the law school has just over 700 students at any time, and retains a student-faculty ratio of 16.9 to 1. Admissions are highly competitive: for the Fall 2009 entering class, only 15.4% of applicants were accepted - making it one of the nation's most selective law schools. Minorities represent 30% of the entering class, and over half of the class is female. At least 75% of each incoming class is from North Carolina, although roughly 75% of applications are from out-of-state. This year's entering class includes students from 22 states and Australia.

Obadele Thompson is a sprint athlete from Barbados;. In 2000, he became the first Olympic medalist from Barbados with a bronze medal in the 100m race. Born in Saint Michael, Thompson attended Harrison College before earning a scholarship, and graduated with honors with a degree in marketing and... economics from the University of Texas at El Paso, United States. On February 21, 2007 Thompson announced his engagement to Marion Jones, then pregnant. The marriage took place in a private ceremony on February 24, 2007 in North Carolina with close friends and family in attendance. Their first child together, son Amir, was born in July 2007. A daughter, Eva-Marie, was born in June 2009. Starting his career, he competed very successful at the CARIFTA Games and the Central American and Caribbean Junior Championships. In 1994, he was awarded the Austin Sealy Trophy for the most outstanding athlete of the 1994 CARIFTA Games. A junior world record holder in 1994, he came close to winning an Olympic medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, when he finished 4th in the 200 m final, which was won by Michael Johnson in a new World Record time.
