The New York Giants are a professional American football team based in East Rutherford, New Jersey, representing the New York City metropolitan area. The Giants are currently members of the East Division of the National Football Conference in the National Football League . The team plays its home... games in East Rutherford, New Jersey at MetLife Stadium, which it shares with the New York Jets in a unique arrangement. As a result of their victory in Super Bowl XLVI, the Giants are the reigning champions of the NFL. The Giants were one of five teams that joined the NFL in 1925, but the only one admitted that year which still exists. The team ranks third among all NFL franchises with eight NFL titles: four in the pre–Super Bowl era and four since the advent of the Super Bowl , XXV , XLII , and XLVI . Their championship tally is surpassed only by the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears . During their history, the Giants have featured 15 Hall of Fame players, including NFL Most Valuable Player award winners Mel Hein, Frank Gifford, Charlie Conerly, Y. A. Tittle, and Lawrence Taylor.

Washington, D.C., formally the District of Columbia and commonly referred to as Washington, "the District", or simply D.C., is the capital of the United States. On July 16, 1790, the United States Congress approved the creation of a federal district to become the national capital as permitted by... the U.S. Constitution. The city shares its name with the U.S. state of Washington, located on the country's Pacific coast. Washington, D.C., had an estimated population of 617,996 in 2011. The city was the 24th most populous place in the United States as of 2010. Commuters from the surrounding Maryland and Virginia suburbs raise the city's population to over one million during the workweek.
