The University of Wisconsin–Whitewater is part of the University of Wisconsin System, located in Whitewater, Wisconsin, United States. It became the state's second public college on April 21, 1868 when it opened its doors to 39 students taught by nine faculty members. It is a four-year,... co-educational, residential college accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. Enrollment in 2010-11 stood at over 11,500. The chancellor is Richard Telfer. The school was first founded in 1868 as Whitewater Normal School. In 1927, it changed its name to Whitewater Teachers College. It became Wisconsin State College–Whitewater in 1951 and Wisconsin State University–Whitewater in 1964. In 1971, after the merger of former University of Wisconsin and the former Wisconsin State Universities, the school became part the University of Wisconsin System and has the name of University of Wisconsin–Whitewater since then. In 1925 an addition of an East wing to Old Main Hall was opened. It was later renamed Hyer Hall in honor of former school president Frank S. Hyer in 1968. On February 7, 1970 "Old Main" hall burned.

Greenfield is a city in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 36,720 at the 2010 census. On March 8, 1839, the Town of Kinnikennick was created by the territorial legislature, encompassing the western part of the Town of Lake; and on December 20, 1839, the south portion of... the Town of Kinnikennick was split off to form the town of Franklin. As of the 1840 census, the population of the Town of Kinnikennick or Kinnikinnick was 404. On Feb. 19, 1841, the name of the town was changed to Greenfield, taking its name from the name of the Post Office in the Town of Kinnickinnic. Greenfield was the final municipality in Milwaukee County to incorporate, and was the final municipality to leave the Town form of government in 1957. This was done to prevent total annexation by the City of Milwaukee. Before 1957, Milwaukee slowly nibbled away at Greenfield's land. Greenfield is located at 42°57′47″N 87°59′45″W / 42.96306°N 87.99583°W / 42.96306; -87.99583 . The Root River flows through the western part of the city. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 11.6 square miles , of which, 11.
