Gathering of Developers was a Texas-based PC and video games publishing company, founded in January 1998 with the mission to bridge the gap between publishers and independent game developers, allowing independent developers creative control over their projects, ownership of their IP, and... participation in the publishing and marketing decisions. Fueled by past publishing experiences and frustrations, several experienced development companies bound together to form a relationship-based publisher. The company later became a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive. Gathering's first wave of releases included Railroad Tycoon II, Nocturne, Darkstone, Age of Wonders and Fly!. The company later expanded to the console market. Take Two acquired the company outright in May 2000, and attempted unsuccessfully to manage the Texas based group from its New York HQ. The founders and employees of G.O.D. were unhappy with the lack of freedom the company allowed for following through on its principles of fair treatment of developers and IP ownership.

MacSoft is a Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States-based software developer and publisher. MacSoft was created in 1993 by Peter Tamte and has published more than 100 software products for Macintosh computers. MacSoft's products include games converted from Windows, such as Halo and the Age of... Empires series, as well as productivity software such as Desktop Labels and 1-2-3 Home Design. In 2003-01-30, Destineer announced it had acquired MacSoft from Infogrames.

Feral Interactive is a publishing company founded in 1999 that publishes video games and other software that did not fit in with the release programs of the large established publishers. It publishes Macintosh games and has relationships with publishers such as Electronic Arts, Eidos Interactive,... Lionhead Studios and Ubisoft. Feral sources games from these publishers for porting to and publishing on the Macintosh platform. Many of its releases involve collaborations with companies like Robosoft Technologies and Zonic. Their recent work with Feral includes The Movies, Imperial Glory, LEGO Star Wars II, Colin McRae Rally Mac, Tomb Raider: Anniversary and Fable: The Lost Chapters. The Macintosh version of 'The Movies' has won a BAFTA award for the best game in the simulation category .
