Memphis Theological Seminary is an ecumenical theological seminary located in Midtown, Memphis, Tennessee. It is affiliated with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, but accepts and trains ministerial candidates from other groups as well. Besides the traditional Master of Divinity , Memphis Theological Seminary also grants Master of Arts in Religion , and Doctor of Ministry degrees as well as administering the Cumberland Presbyterian denomination's Program of Alternate Studies or PAS. It was founded as the theological department of Bethel College in McKenzie, Tennessee, in 1908, became the... Cumberland Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 1922, and moved to Memphis in 1964. The current president is the Rev. Dr. Daniel J. Earheart-Brown. Former presidents include the Rev. Drs. Thomas H. Campbell, William T. Ingram, E. Colvin Baird, J. David Hester and Larry A. Blakeburn. The seminary is fully accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada and the Commission on Colleges and Schools of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the above-mentioned degrees.
