Game Overview

Metroid: Zero Mission is the second Game Boy Advance title to feature the legendary bounty hunter Samus Aran. The details regarding this exciting title are scarce at the moment, but judging by the title and screenshots t looks like the game will be a prequel of sorts to Metroid Fusion, and possibly to both Metroid and Super Metroid as well. The game seems to be an original adventure that borrows elements and locations from the past Metroid games on the NES and Super NES. And the engine looks more capable as well, as seen in one screenshot that features transparent foreground so players can see through them.

The Bottom Line

Explore the roots of the saga behind legendary bounty hunter, Samus Aran, in this retelling of the great NES classic. Completely new graphics, level design, control elements, power-ups, and story twists make this trip back to Zebes a thrilling new experience for fans of the series.

Sent to Zebes to investigate rumors of a deadly alien species, Samus meets her match in the form of the mysterious Metroids -- energy-sapping creatures that emerge from an oversized cerebrum beneath the planet's surface. Samus isn't the only traveler searching for the Metroids. A band of Space Pirates has touched down to extract the curious creatures and use them as weapons. Samus must thwart the pirates, but they are wily and will prove to be more trouble than Samus expects.

A disappointingly short-lived experience. That's partly because the game is so captivating for as long as it lasts that you may be compelled to blast your way through in just one or two sittings.

So while it's a somewhat weak one-shot experience, digging deeper after it's done is where much of the reward comes from.
