The Church of the Holy Trinity is an historic Episcopal church in Middletown, Connecticut, that was listed on the National Register of Historic... Places on September 14, 1979, together with its nearby former rectory, also known as the Bishop Acheson House. This Gothic church at 381 Main Street faces east from the west side of Main Street on the central block between Court and Washington streets. it is set back from the street with a lawn in front. Its substantial appearance, emphasized by the sombre tones of the heavy brownstone construction, contrasts greatly with the flat facades and brightly decorated storefronts on Main Street. The Episcopal Church in Middletown had its beginnings as early as 1724. Unlike many Colonial Anglican churches, it was firmly committed to the patriot cause during the American Revolution. This is the third meeting house of the parish, which was formally established as Christ Church in 1750. Several of its ministers have become bishops, including Abraham Jarvis, John Williams, and Edward Campion Acheson, father of Dean Acheson. The church was built in 1870-1874.

The Coite-Hubbard House is a historic building in Middletown, Connecticut, in the United States. The house faces east to the Connecticut River from... the southwest corner of High Street and Wyllys Avenue. High Street between Church and Washington Streets was the most prestigious residential area in Middletown during the 19th century, and is now a part of the Wesleyan University campus. This house was built in 1856 by Gabriel Coite. Coite was a partner in his father's business in Brooklyn, New York, until he retired to Middletown in 1853. In 1860 he was elected State Senator; and in 1862 became treasurer of the State and moved to Hartford. In 1863, the house was acquired by Mrs. Jane Miles Hubbard, widow of Samuel D. Hubbard. Hubbard was co-founder of the Russell Manufacturing Company, builder of the Mansion block, and a Postmaster General. Wesleyan University purchased the property from Mrs. Hubbard's heirs in 1904 for use as the President's residence. Since then Presidents Raymond, Shanklin, Olin, McConaughty , Butterfield, Etherington, and Campbell have occupied the house.

The Edward Augustus Russell House is a Greek Revival house on the Wesleyan University Campus. The house, at 318 High Street, faces west from the east... side of High Street north of the corner at High and Court Streets. A large wooded lawn extends to the Honors College property to the north. High Street between Church and Washington Streets was the most prestigious residential area in Middletown during the 19th century. It was later home to the KNK Fraternity of Wesleyan University. The structural system consists of load-bearing masonry with a flat roof, and materials include brick and flushboarding walls and a brownstone foundation. This house was built in 1841-1842 for Edward A. Russell on a portion of the Russell family estate. Edward Russell worked in the foreign mercantile trade until he returned to Middletown in 1838. He later served as mayor, state representative and national convention delegate. Edward A. Russell had personal contact with the firm of Town and Davis while supervising the building of the well-known Greek Revival Russell House for his younger brother, Samuel W. Russell.

The Middletown Alms House is a historic building in Middletown, Connecticut, constructed in 1813-1814. It was originally used as a poorhouse and is... the oldest surviving building built for housing the poor in Connecticut, as well as one of the oldest such in the United States. One of the largest structures of the Federal period in Middletown, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The Town of Middletown built the Alms House in 1814 to house the town's poor. Many of the people housed there were required to work, either in the Alms House or in a local industrial business. The building at 53 Warwick Street served as a poorhouse until 1853, when the institution was moved to the Middletown Town Farms facility on Silver Street in the town's South Farms district. Shortly after, the Hubbard and Curtis Hardware Company occupied the building. This company, which manufactured tools, hardware, and wood-burning stoves, had its principal place of commerce on Main Street and manufactured its goods in this building. In the early 20th century, Fred Hodge manufactured valve wheels there.

James Naughton is an American director, theater, film and television actor. Naughton was born in Middletown, Connecticut, the son of Rosemary and... Joseph Naughton, both of whom were teachers He is the brother of actor David Naughton. Naughton graduated from Brown University and Yale Drama School. His acting career began when he appeared in a series of Broadway dramas and musicals. He has since become an accomplished actor in both starring and supporting film and television roles. His largest fame and first love has been the legitimate theater. He won the Theatre World Award for his performance in Long Day's Journey Into Night in 1971. He went on to star with Geneviève Bujold in Antigone which was later made into a film in 1974. He starred in the musical I Love My Wife in 1977 and in the drama Whose Life is it Anyway? opposite Mary Tyler Moore in 1980. He won his first Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical in 1990 for City of Angels. In 1997 he won a second Tony Award with his portrayal of lawyer Billy Flynn in the musical Chicago.

William Russell Watrous III is a jazz trombonist. He is perhaps best known by casual fans of jazz music for his rendition of Sammy Nestico's... arrangement of the Johnny Mandel ballad "A Time for Love," which he recorded on a 1993 album of the same name. A self-described "bop-oriented" player, he is well known among fellow trombonists as a master technician and for his mellifluous sound. Watrous was introduced to the jazz trombone at an early age by his father, also a trombonist. While serving in the U.S. Navy, Watrous studied with jazz pianist and composer Herbie Nichols. His first professional performances were in Billy Butterfield's band. Watrous' career blossomed in the 1960s. He played and recorded with many jazz luminaries, including Maynard Ferguson, Woody Herman, Quincy Jones, Johnny Richards, and fellow trombonist Kai Winding. He also played in the house band on the Merv Griffin Show from 1965 - 1968. In 1971, he played with the jazz fusion group Ten Wheel Drive. Also in the 1970s, Watrous formed his own band, "The Manhattan Wildlife Refuge Big Band," and recorded two albums with the band on the Columbia Records label.

Allie Wrubel was an American composer and songwriter. Born in Middletown, Connecticut, Wrubel attended Wesleyan University and Columbia University... before working in dance bands. He began his musical career in Greenwich Village, New York where he roomed with his close friend James Cagney. He played saxophone and clarinet for a variety of famous swing bands. In 1934 he moved to Hollywood to work for Warner Bros. as a contract song writer. He contributed material to a large number of movies, including those of the famous Busby Berkeley before moving to Disney in 1947. Wrubel collaborated with lyricist Ray Gilbert on the song "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" from the film Song of the South which won the Oscar for Best Song in 1947. Wrubel also contributed to the films Make Mine Music, Duel in the Sun, I Walk Alone, Melody Time, Tulsa, Never Steal Anything Small and Midnight Lace. The lyricists with whom he collaborated included Abner Silver, Herb Magidson, Charles Newman, Mort Dixon and Ned Washington. When he died, at Twentynine Palms, California, he left a lengthy catalogue of songs. Allie Wrubel was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970.

At the present time Shaka lives and works in the northwest German town Norderstedt, inside the Hamburg Metropolitan Region.

Nate Barlow is an American film director, actor, screenwriter and producer. Born in Middletown, Connecticut, to two musician and teaching parents,... he spent two years as a child in Tanzania, where he attended the International School Moshi. He graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 1996, after which he worked as a designer engineer for Symbol Technologies on Long Island before moving to Los Angeles, California, to pursue his filmmaking career. Barlow co-directed, co-wrote and co-starred in Tales from Beyond, an anthology feature film starring Adam West that won Best Picture Awards at the 2004 ShockerFest and 2004 ShriekFest Film Festivals before being distributed by Anthem Pictures. Prior to Tales From Beyond, he directed the interview-based documentary short Film Trix 2002 and produced the narrative feature film Hollywood, Pennsylvania, which had a live making-of documentary broadcast from the set onto the World Wide Web. Tony Pastor was an Italian American novelty singer and tenor saxophonist, who played tenor sax with John Cavallaro , Irving Aaronson , Austin Wylie... , Smith Ballew , Joe Venuti, Paul Fredricks, Vincent Lopez, and Artie Shaw's first and second orchestras. In November 1939 when Shaw walked off the bandstand in the Cafe Rouge located inside the Hotel Pennsylvania , Pastor was soon coaxed into leading his own big band, which he did from 1939 to 1959.
