Monterey

Monterey State Historic Park is a historic state park in Monterey, California. It includes part or all of the Monterey Old Town Historic District, a... historic district that includes 17 contributing buildings and was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1970. The grounds include California's first theatre, and the Monterey Customs House, where the American flag was first raised over California. The park is a group of restored historic buildings: the Custom House, the Cooper-Molera Adobe Complex, the Larkin House, California's First Brick House, Colton Hall , Old Whaling Company, the Stevenson House, the First Theater, the Pacific House Museum, the Interpretive House, Casa del Oro, and Casa Soberanes. These houses display the cultural diversity that guided California's transition from a remote Spanish outpost in Las Californias province, to an agricultural Mexican Alta California territory, to U.S statehood. These influential adobe houses made up California's earliest capital and were the site of the state's first constitutional convention.

Colton Hall, located in Monterey, California, was built in the 1840s by Walter Colton, who came to Monterey as a chaplain on Commodore Stockton's... vessel and remained to become Monterey's first alcalde in the American Period. Colton Hall was originally a public school and government meeting place. It also hosted California's first constitutional convention in 1849. California’s military governor called for a constitutional convention, to be held in Monterey’s Colton Hall. On September 1, delegates from ten districts arrived in Monterey to debate and write California’s first constitution. The California Constitution was ratified on October 13, voted on in November that year and sent to Congress in January 1850. San Jose was chosen as the seat for the first Legislature. The Native Sons of the Golden West were instrumental in 1903 in securing a legislative appropriation for necessary repairs on Colton Hall.

Lance Krall is a Vietnamese-American comedian and actor, television writer, director, and producer. He became well known after his portrayal as... "Kip" in the role in faux-reality show The Joe Schmo Show. He went on to create and star in The Lance Krall Show and Free Radio. Because his father, John Krall, was a Naval aviator, and his mother Yung Krall, was a spy for the CIA, Lance spent most of his life moving from country to country and state to state. Government and military life shuffled Lance and his family to California, Hawaii, Saigon, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Washington DC and New Mexico. Lance's family finally retired from government life in 1983 and settled in Georgia. Lance attended Shiloh High School and Georgia State University. After getting his BA in Film and Theater at Georgia State University, Krall helped found The Whole World Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia. From 1993-2000, Krall performed in improv shows and scripted plays at Whole World. In 1999, Krall was spotted by a Hollywood talent agent, and moved out west. In late 2000 he was cast on Steve Martin's variety show, The Downer Channel.

George Harry "Hank" Harrison III is an American author. He is the father of Courtney Love. He was the roommate of Phil Lesh on several occasions... from 1960 to 1974. He was the original Manager of the Warlocks Rock Group in 1965, destined to become the Grateful Dead. He suggested the name and advertising for the first Deadhead Deadfreaks Unite! newsletter. In 1976 he created the publishing company now known as Arkives Press. In 1972, he was the Writer in Residence, Villa Montalvo, Saratoga, California. He appeared on dozens of radio and television shows throughout his career. He currently resides on his equestrian rescue center near Sacramento Metro Area. Hank Harrison wrote the biographic trilogy and social history of the Grateful Dead, "The Dead Vol 1: A Social History of the Grateful Dead". While writing these volumes, he began a series of books on Medieval Arthurian literature and the Holy Grail, including two novels a book on Kurt Cobain and his daughter, Courtney Love, and several other books.

Allison Glenn Scagliotti is an American actress. She had a recurring role on Drake & Josh, portraying the character Mindy Crenshaw and currently... appears as Claudia Donovan on the SyFy television series, Warehouse 13. She helped co-host SyFy's Ghost Hunters Live on Halloween 2010. Scagliotti was born in Monterey, California. Her parents divorced when she was two. At age seven, Scagliotti moved to Mandeville, Louisiana, where she joined her school's drama club. She is a fan of punk rock music, especially Courtney Love and Joan Jett- the latter of whom appeared in her first movie. Scagliotti is also a bit of a comics buff, and currently she is being considered to play one of her favorite comic book heroines in the upcoming film adaptation of Hack/Slash. Scagliotti has had various small television roles during her career including stints on Zoey 101, One Tree Hill, and CSI as well as the Nickelodeon series Drake & Josh. Her first lead role was as Maddie in the film Redemption Maddie. Scagliotti is best known for her portrayal of the character Claudia Donovan in the 2009 series, Warehouse 13 on Syfy.

Hal Andrew Lindes is an English-American guitarist and film score composer. In 1980 he began recording a solo album with producer Al Kooper, along... with Herbie Flowers on bass and John Bradbury on drums. The project was halted mid-stream when Lindes received an invitation by Mark Knopfler to join the British rock band Dire Straits. Lindes became a full-time member of Dire Straits at the end of 1980 while the band were promoting their third album, Making Movies. During his five year tenure with the group, Dire Straits grew from playing small clubs to performing in sold out stadiums. He featured in the their next album, 1982's Love Over Gold as well as the 1983 EP, titled ExtendedancEPlay. During this time Mark Knopfler was also involved with composing the music score for David Puttnam's 1983 film Local Hero, in which Lindes also performed on some of the cues. It was at this point that he discovered a passion for composing film soundtracks.

Jean Bruce Scott is an American television actress, best known for her role as former Texas Highway Patrol helicopter pilot "Caitlin O'Shannessy" in... the 1984-1986 CBS action thriller drama television series Airwolf, starring Jan-Michael Vincent, Ernest Borgnine, and Alex Cord. She also had a recurring role as Maggie Poole in seasons 3-8 of Magnum, P.I.. As of early 2007, Scott is working as the executive director and producer of Native Voices at the Autry, a program devoted to developing and producing new works for the stage by Native American playwrights, and is affiliated with the Autry National Center. After attending La Quinta High from 1970 to 1974, Scott attended California State University, Fullerton from 1975 to 1979. She attended UCLA in the late 80's, and graduated from California State University, Northridge in 1992.

Robert Jacks was a close friend to Lord of the Rings actor Viggo Mortensen. His height was 6 feet 3 inches . Jacks died one day short of his 42nd birthday on August 8, 2001, in Austin, Texas, of an abdominal aneurysm.
