Morrilton is a city in Conway County, Arkansas, United States, 51 miles northwest of Little Rock. The town was home to Harding College, now Harding University of Searcy, Arkansas, for about a decade in the 1920s and 1930s. The population was 6,767 at the 2010 Census. The city is the county seat of Conway County. Morrilton was the birthplace of former Lieutenant Governor Nathan Green Gordon , a distinguished naval aviator during World War II. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 8.5 square miles , of which 8.2 square miles is land and 0.3 square miles is water. Morrilton is home to the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton. The community is served by two secondary schools, the South Conway County School District serves Morrilton as its public school system, where Sacred Heart Catholic School is private. As of the Census of 2010, there were 6,767 people and 2,759 households in the city.
