Broadway at the Beach is owned and operated by Burroughs & Chapin Company, Inc. The $250 million attraction is set on 350 acres in the heart of Myrtle Beach and features three theaters, 17 restaurants and more than 100 specialty shops as well as attractions, nightclubs, and hotels, all surrounding the 23-acre Lake Broadway. The complex is a past recipient of the South Carolina Governor's Cup and was deemed the state's best travel destination by the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism. In 2009, 14.8 million people visited Broadway at the Beach, making it the region’s most popular destination. The complex contains three hotels, a Hampton Inn, Fairfield Inn, and Holiday Inn Express.

Nancy O'Dell is an American television host and entertainment journalist, who currently is the co-anchor of the syndicated entertainment news show... Entertainment Tonight since 2011. She joined the show on January 3, 2011. O'Dell was born in Sumter, South Carolina and moved to Myrtle Beach as a baby. She graduated from Coastal Academy High School in 1984 and went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude with a major in marketing from Clemson University in 1990, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Then known as Nancy Humphries, she won the Miss South Carolina pageant in 1987 and represented the state at Miss America 1988, where she won a preliminary swimsuit award. Two years later, she competed in Miss South Carolina USA 1990 and finished as 1st runner-up to future Miss USA 1990 1st runner up and Miss World 1990, Gina Tolleson. Nancy O'Dell began her broadcast career as a reporter and anchor at WPDE-TV in her hometown of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She later worked as morning news anchor and crime reporter at WCBD-TV in nearby Charleston, SC.

Shane Carruth is an American film writer, director, editor, producer, actor and musician. Carruth was born in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He... attended Stephen F. Austin State University. Carruth wrote, directed, produced, performed one of the two main roles, and composed the music for his independent film Primer, which was honored at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival with the Grand Jury Prize. Carruth, a former software engineer with an undergraduate degree in mathematics, utilized his technical knowledge on the project. David Sullivan, one of the leads in Primer, claimed on his Twitter that "Shane Carruth's next project, A Topiary, is in the early stages of pre-production." Filmmaker Rian Johnson also posted: "Shane has a mind-blowing sci-fi script. Let's all pray to the movie-gods that he gets it made soon." In 2010, several news sources reported that A Topiary is in the works, and that the script is written. There is already a website for the movie , which, according to Carruth in an interview to io9, "The website for now is just a place mark as financing has yet to be completed.
