The Belknap Stone House in Newburgh, New York, USA, was built by Abel Belknap in the 1750s. Located on Broadway near the city's western boundary, it... is the second oldest structure in the city after Hasbrouck House, Washington's headquarters during the last years of the American Revolutionary War. Belknap chaired the local Committee of Safety during the war, and when the Continental Army was encamped in the Newburgh area in 1782-83, the house served as James Clinton's headquarters in the area. Today it has been restored and houses some local law offices and other businesses. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989; it is also a contributing property to the Montgomery-Grand-Liberty Streets Historic District.

The Dutch Reformed Church is one of the most prominent architectural landmarks in Newburgh, New York. It was designed by Alexander Jackson Davis in... 1835 in the Greek Revival style common in America in that time period. It is his only surviving church in that style and is considered to be his latest building still standing that largely reflects his original vision. It is located at 132 Grand Street, just north of the Newburgh Free Library. Its historical importance comes from not just over a century of use as church, but its centrality in the struggle by modern preservationists to save and restore the city's many landmark buildings. Today it is a National Historic Landmark. It was almost razed in the late 1960s, and even today is far from completely restored. The church is 50 feet wide and high, and 100 feet long. The four front Ionic order columns are 37 feet high . It sits on a bluff 250 feet above the Hudson River, a few blocks away.

The New York State Armory was built in 1880 on Broadway in Newburgh, New York, USA. Designed by John A. Wood, it housed a local unit of the New York... National Guard. In the 1930s the Guard moved to a newer armory on South William Street and the old building fell vacant and became property of the city. It was nearly gutted by fire in the 1970s but remained standing, an eyesore in Newburgh's Lower Broadway area. In 1981 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places, which helped prevent its demolition. It also became one of over 2,000 contributing properties to the East End Historic District when that was added to the Register four years later. Nothing was done to refurbish it until the late 1990s, when the city sold it to Orange County for a dollar and the county's former courthouse. The county brought in Robert Carchietta's Gemma Development to restored it. The project won the Commissioner's Annual Private Sector Achievement Award from Bernadette Castro, then-commissioner of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation..

The David Crawford House is located on Montgomery Street in Newburgh, New York, USA. It is a neoclassical mansion built by Crawford, who had made his... fortune in Hudson River shipping, in 1834. In 1958, Historical Society of Newburgh Bay and the Hudson Highlands purchased the house to prevent its demolition for a planned parking lot. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, and became a contributing property when the Montgomery-Grand-Liberty Streets Historic District was established the following year. Today it is the headquarters of the society, which operates it as a museum open to the public on Sundays and for special events. It has a collection of historical artifacts, particularly boat prints and models related to Crawford's business in an exhibit on his life. The historical society obtained a grant from the state in 2007 to repair the roof, chimneys, gutters, and facade. It is currently trying to raise the matching funds.

William Surrey Hart was an American silent film actor, screenwriter, director and producer. He is remembered for having "imbued all of his... characters with honor and integrity." Hart was born in Newburgh, New York; to James Howard Hart and Katherine Diédricht Hart . William had 2 brothers and 4 sisters. His father was of Irish ancestry, and his mother was of German heritage. In his twenties, Hart began his acting career on stage and would not consider acting in movies until he was 49 years of age. He toured and traveled extensively while trying to make a name for himself as an actor, and for a time coached shows at the Asheville Opera House around year 1900. His family had moved to Asheville but after his youngest sister Lotta died of typhoid fever they all left together for Brooklyn until William went back on tour. A successful Shakespearean actor on Broadway who had worked with Margaret Mather and other stars, he appeared in the original 1899 stage production of Ben-Hur. Hart went on to become one of the first great stars of the motion picture western.

Saul Stacey Williams is an American poet, writer, actor and musician known for his blend of poetry and alternative hip hop and for his leading role... in the 1998 independent film Slam. The youngest of three children, Williams was born in Newburgh, New York. He attended Newburgh Free Academy for high school, where he would write his song "Black Stacey." After graduating from Morehouse College with a B.A. in acting and philosophy, Williams moved to New York City to earn an MFA in Acting from New York University's prestigious Graduate Acting Program at the Tisch School of the Arts. There he found himself at the center of the New York cafe poetry scene. Williams and artist Marcia Jones began their relationship in 1995 as collaborative artists on the Brooklyn performance art and spoken word circuit. Their daughter, Saturn, was born in 1996. His collection of poems S/HE is a series of reflections on the demise of the relationship. Marcia Jones, a visual artist and art professor, created the cover artwork for The Seventh Octave, images throughout S/HE in response to Williams, and set-designed his 2001 album Amethyst Rock Star.

Anthony "Tony" DeVito is an American professional wrestler, best known for working in Extreme Championship Wrestling and Ring of Honor. In ROH, he... held the World Tag Team Championship with HC Loc as a part of The Carnage Crew. After training under David Schultz and debuting in 1991, DeVito was signed by the World Wrestling Federation to a contract. DeVito debuted for the WWF in 1992 and worked as an enhancement talent for the company, losing to the likes of Mr. Perfect, Bam Bam Bigelow, Doink the Clown and Phantasio. After leaving the company in 1996, he began working on the independent circuit. In 2000, DeVito joined Extreme Championship Wrestling as a part of a faction called "Da Baldies" with Angel, Vito Lograsso, P.N. News, Vic Grimes and Redd Dogg. The characteristics of Da Baldies were that of bald headed thugs. DeVito and Angel feuded with Balls Mahoney and Axl Rotten and then New Jack. At Guilty as Charged, Da Baldies were "hired" to attack the team of Christian York and Joey Matthews, as well as Justin Credible and Steve Corino.
