Nicholas Nickleby is a 1947 British drama film directed by Cavalcanti. The screenplay by John Dighton is based on the 1839 novel The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby by Charles Dickens. It is the first sound screen adaptation of the book, following silent films released in 1903 and 1912.
