An action-adventure game can be defined as a game with a mix of elements from an action game and an adventure game, especially crucial elements like... puzzles.  Action-adventures require many of the same physical skills as action games, but also offer a storyline, numerous characters, an inventory system, dialog, and other features of adventure games.  They are faster-paced than pure adventure games, because they include both physical and conceptual challenges.  Action-adventure games normally include a combination of a series complex story elements made into an audio-visual display for players that is heavily reliant upon the player character's movement which affects the flow of the game.  Some examples of action-adventure games include the The Legend of Zelda, and Tomb Raider series.

Tomonobu Itagaki is a Japanese video game designer who created the Dead or Alive fighting game and beach sport simulation series and also revived the Ninja Gaiden franchise in 2004. Joining Tecmo in 1992, Itagaki produced two video game franchises that were commercial successes and earned him several promotions; he headed Tecmo's development team, Team Ninja, and sat on the executive board. He left the company after 16 years of service, filing... a lawsuit against it for withholding bonus pay. His new team at Valhalla Game Studios, comprising other Team Ninja members, is currently working on a new game, Devil's Third. While his games are generally widely-acclaimed and he is considered a well-respected game designer, Itagaki has also gained infamy for the female characters in his games having large, overly-animated breasts, and also for his frankness and lack of humility in interviews and the comments he makes about his competitors and their games. Born in 1967, Tomonobu Itagaki graduated from Waseda University Senior High School on March 1985. Following that, he entered Waseda University and graduated from its School of Law on March 1992.

Tecmo, Inc. , formerly known as Tehkan Ltd. , was a Japanese video game corporation founded in 1967. In 2009, it merged with Koei to form the holding company Tecmo Koei, and was operated as a subsidiary and brandname until its disbandment in early 2010. Tecmo is best known for the Star Force, Dead... or Alive, Ninja Gaiden, Deception, Monster Rancher, Rygar, Tecmo Bowl, Fatal Frame, Tōkidenshō Angel Eyes and Gallop Racer video game series. Tecmo had its headquarters in Kudankita, Chiyoda, Tokyo. Tecmo's United States offices are in Torrance, California. The company was founded on July 31, 1967 as a supplier of cleaning equipment. Two years later, in 1969, it started to sell amusement equipment. In March 1981, a U.S. division was inaugurated as U.S. Tehkan, Inc.. A month later, on April 1981, Tehkan released in Japan its first arcade video game titled Pleiads . When it was still called Tehkan, the company also released such classic games as Bomb Jack and Tehkan World Cup. On January 8, 1986, Tehkan officially changed its name to Tecmo.
