The Ledbetter House was completed in 1948 in Norman, Oklahoma, United States. It was designed by architect Bruce Goff. The distinguishing features of... the house are its suspended carport and patio roofs. The Ledbetter House is owned by the University of Oklahoma and is now a private residence. In 2001, it was one of several Goff-designed buildings recognized by placement on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Bavinger House was completed in 1955 in Norman, Oklahoma, United States. It was designed by architect Bruce Goff. Considered a significant... example of organic architecture, the house was awarded the Twenty-five Year Award from the American Institute of Architects in 1987. The house was built over the course of five years by Nancy and Eugene Bavinger, the residents of the house, who were artists, along with the help of a few of Eugene's art students, volunteers, and local businesses. The wall of the house is a 96 foot long logarithmically curved spiral, made from 200 tons of stone, some of it local "ironrock" sandstone taken from a quarry three miles away that Bavinger purchased. The structure is anchored by a recycled oil field drill stem that was reused to make a central mast more than 55 feet high. The house has no interior walls; instead there are a series of platforms at different heights, some with curtains that can be drawn for privacy. The ground floor is covered with pools and planted areas. The Bavingers moved into the house in February 1955, and Life magazine featured the house in its September 19, 1955 issue.

Boyd Field was a stadium in Norman, Oklahoma. It hosted the University of Oklahoma Sooners football team until they moved to Gaylord Family Oklahoma... Memorial Stadium in 1923. The stadium held 11,000 people at its peak and was opened in 1905. The stadium was named after former university president, David Ross Boyd.

Barry Switzer is a former football coach, active in the college and professional ranks between 1962 and 1997. He has one of the highest winning... percentages of any college football coach in history, and is one of only two head coaches to win both a college football national championship and a Super Bowl Born in Crossett, Arkansas, Switzer's father Frank was a bootlegger who was arrested at the family house. His mother Mary Louise raised Barry and his brother Donnie, but on August 26, 1959 she shot herself. Barry accepted an athletic scholarship and played football at the University of Arkansas. After graduation, he did a brief stint in the U.S. Army and then returned to Arkansas as an assistant coach. Following the 1966 season, Switzer moved to the University of Oklahoma as an assistant coach under new head coach and good friend, Jim Mackenzie. After Mackenzie died of a heart attack following spring practice of 1967, Switzer continued as an assistant under former University of Houston assistant and new Oklahoma head coach Chuck Fairbanks.

His mother, who was said to be of part Cherokee descent, died when he was five years old.

January 13, 1961, the son of Thomas Coyne and Dolores "Dolly" Jackson. The fifth of six children, Coyne moved with his family from Pittsburgh's Troy Hill neighborhood to Oklahoma in early-1961. Coyne grew up in Norman, OK. Coyne preferred listening to music and playing pickup football. He and his brothers dubbed themselves “The Fearless Freaks” for their brutal backyard football games. Tommy Coyne, Coyne's older brother, described the games as a "semi-civilized gang fight." Coyne earned money in high school as a fry cook for a Long John Silver's restaurant in Oklahoma City. During his second year of employment there was a rash of robberies in Oklahoma City. The restaurant was robbed and Coyne and other employees were held at gunpoint and forced to lie on the ground. Coyne was certain he was going to die. The assistant manager couldn't open the restaurant's safe, however, and the robbers eventually fled.

James William "Jim" Ross is a professional wrestling commentator, referee, restaurateur, occasional wrestler, and former company executive of WWE,... where he currently works as a talent relations consultant. Ross was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007 and is widely regarded as one of the greatest commentators in wrestling history. He is known affectionately by wrestling fans as Good Ol' JR. In recent years, he has developed his own brand of barbecue sauces and cookbooks. While attending Westville High School, Ross was the first baseman on the Westville baseball team. Ross was a two-time all-conference football player for the Westville Yellowjackets in 1968–69. His maternal grandparents owned a general store in Westville, Oklahoma and his paternal grandfather Dee Ross owned an off-sale beer store and was a carpenter. Ross was also President of the Student Body, a 4 year letterman in basketball, and State Vice President of the Future Farmers of America where he was State Speech Champion in 1968. Ross was also named Honorable Mention on the 1969 High School All State Football team by the Tulsa World as a center.

Norman, Oklahoma, Davis began his musical career in Oklahoma City. His father, Jesse Ed Davis II, was Muscogee Creek and Seminole while his mother's side was Kiowa. He graduated from Northeast High School in 1962. Davis began his musical career in the late 1950s playing in Oklahoma City and surrounding cities with John Ware , John Selk , Jerry Fisher Mike Boyle, Chris Frederickson, drummer Bill Maxwell and others. By the mid 1960s Davis had quit the University of Oklahoma and went touring with Conway Twitty. Davis eventually moved to California, where, through his friendship with Levon Helm, he became friendly with Leon Russell. He became a session player before joining Taj Mahal and playing guitar and piano on his first three albums.

He is often referred to as Mad Matt Fletcher , or Fletch to differentiate between him and Matt Fox. Matt Fletcher does not like the film Mad Max, frequently when questioned about his issues with the film he's been known to fly into a fit of violent rage. When asked about metalcore, he was quoted as saying "well, we're a hardcore band that plays our version of metal". He does not consider himself a musician and often explains, "I just put my fingers where I have to".
