Nuneaton is the largest town in the Borough of Nuneaton and Bedworth and in the English county of Warwickshire. Nuneaton is most famous for its associations with the 19th century author George Eliot, who was born on a farm on the Arbury Estate just outside Nuneaton in 1819 and lived in the town for much of her early life. In her novel Scenes of Clerical Life , "Milby" is the thinly disguised market town of Nuneaton. The Nuneaton Urban Area is a conurbation based around Nuneaton and several surrounding towns and villages. The town is located 9 miles north of Coventry, 20 miles east of... Birmingham and 103 miles northwest of London. The River Anker runs through the town. Nuneaton had a population of 70,721 according to the 2001 census, though the 2008 estimate is closer to 73,000 inhabitants.
