Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark opened in 1998 in downtown Oklahoma City's Bricktown district, replacing All Sports Stadium. It is the home of the... Oklahoma City RedHawks, the AAA affiliate of the Houston Astros major league baseball team. The park seats 13,066 fans. The stadium frequently hosts the Big 12 Baseball Tournament. The first Big 12 tournament was held at All Sports Stadium in 1997 before moving to Bricktown in 1998. The tournament has been held at Bricktown every year since, except for 2002 and 2004, when it was contested at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, the home park of the Texas Rangers. It is also home to two games of the Bedlam Series, in which the Oklahoma Sooners face the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Groundbreaking ceremonies were held on October 10, 1995, but actual construction did not begin until August of 1996 due to escalating construction costs and the redesign of the ballpark by architects. The ballpark opened on April 16, 1998 with the RedHawks falling to the Edmonton Trappers 6-3 in front of a sell-out crowd of 14,066 fans. The stadium originally opened as Southwestern Bell Bricktown Ballpark .

The Gold Dome, a geodesic dome in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, is a landmark on the famous Route 66. It was built in 1958 and is located at the... intersection of North West 23rd Street and North Classen Boulevard. It was declared eligible to be listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. In 1958, the Citizens State Bank began construction. The Gold Dome building was the fifth geodesic dome constructed in the world and the first to be used as a bank. It was described as “one of the nation’s most revolutionary bank designs.” Using the geodesic dome design patented by the famous futurist and architect, Buckminster Fuller the architects for the Citizens State Bank, Bailey, Bozalis, Dickinson, and Roloff of Oklahoma City created this unusual Oklahoma City landmark. The dome is constructed of 625 panels, ranging in size from 7.5 to 11.5 feet in length, 60 – 70 pounds in weight each, and spanning a diameter of 145 feet . The interior covers about 27,000 square feet.1 The Gold Dome bank was an approximately $1 million investment.

The Kirkpatrick Fine Art Center is the main performance venue at Oklahoma City University. It connects to the Wanda L Bass Music Center. Combined... they house the Wanda L Bass School of Music and the newly formed School of Theatre. The Kirkpatrick Fine Art Center contains the Kirkpatrick Auditorium, Burg Theatre, Petree Recital Hall, and the School of Theatre Scene Shop. The Kirkpatrick Auditorium was designed by architectural firm Layton Hicks & Forsyth, and constructed by JH Frederickson & Co. John A Brown , Eugene Mantrin , Building Committee: PT Stuart , EB Galloway, CSMC Creight, EDS Vaught in 1928. Col. Charles Lindbergh broke ground on the KFAC September 28, 1927. When it was decided to attach the Bass Music Center to the KFAC, ground was broken on September 28, 2006. Lon Chaney, Jr. , born Creighton Tull Chaney, was an American character actor. He was best known for his roles in monster films and as the son of... famous silent film actor, Lon Chaney. He is notable for portraying Lennie Small in Of Mice and Men and Larry Talbot in The Wolf Man. Originally credited in films as Creighton Chaney, he was first credited as "Lon Chaney, Jr." in 1935. Chaney had English, French and Irish ancestry. Creighton was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the son of silent film star Lon Chaney and Frances Cleveland Creighton Chaney, a singing stage performer who traveled in road shows across the country with Creighton. His parents' troubled marriage ended in divorce in 1913 following his mother's scandalous public suicide attempt in Los Angeles. Young Creighton lived in various homes and boarding schools until 1916, when his father married Hazel Hastings and could provide a stable home. Many articles and biographies over the years report that Creighton was led to believe his mother had died while he was a boy, and was only made aware she lived after his father's death in 1930.

Charles Henry "Charlie" Christian was an American swing and jazz guitarist. Christian was an important early performer on the electric guitar, and... is cited as a key figure in the development of bebop and cool jazz. He gained national exposure as a member of the Benny Goodman Sextet and Orchestra from August 1939 to June 1941. His single-string technique combined with amplification helped bring the guitar out of the rhythm section and into the forefront as a solo instrument. John Hammond and George T. Simon called Christian the best improvisational talent of the swing era. In the liner notes to the 1972 Columbia album Solo Flight: The Genius of Charlie Christian, Gene Lees writes that "many critics and musicians consider that Christian was one of the founding fathers of bebop, or if not that, at least a precursor to it". Christian's influence reached beyond jazz and swing — in 1990 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Christian was raised in Oklahoma City and was one of many musicians who jammed along the city's "Deep Deuce" section on N.E. Second Street.

Joe William Haldeman is an American science fiction author. Haldeman was born June 9, 1943 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. His family traveled and he... lived in Puerto Rico, New Orleans, Washington, D.C., Bethesda, Maryland and Anchorage, Alaska as a child. Haldeman married Mary Gay Potter, known as "Gay", in 1965. He received a BS degree in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Maryland in 1967. That same year he was drafted into the Army and served as a combat engineer in Vietnam. He was wounded in combat and his wartime experience was the inspiration for War Year, his first novel. In 1975, he received an MFA degree in Creative Writing from the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop. He resides in Gainesville, Florida and Cambridge, Massachusetts and teaches writing at MIT. In addition to being an award-winning writer, Haldeman is a painter. In 2009 and 2010, he was hospitalized for pancreatitis. Haldeman's most famous novel is The Forever War , inspired by his Vietnam experiences, which won both the Hugo and Nebula Awards. He later turned it into a series.

Donald Eugene Cherry was an innovative African-American jazz cornetist whose career began with a long association with saxophonist Ornette Coleman.... He went on to live in many parts of the world and work with a wide variety of musicians. Cherry was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and raised in Los Angeles, California. After learning various brass instruments in high school, by the early 1950s he was playing with jazz musicians in Los Angeles, sometimes acting as pianist in Art Farmer's group. He also toured with saxophonist James Clay. Cherry became well known in 1958 when he performed and recorded with Ornette Coleman, first in a quintet with pianist Paul Bley and later in what became the predominantly piano-less quartet which recorded for Atlantic Records. During this period, "his lines gathered much of their freedom of motion from the free harmonic structures.

Joseph Christopher Carter is a former right fielder in Major League Baseball who played from 1983 to 1998. Carter is most famous for hitting a... walk-off home run to win the 1993 World Series for the Toronto Blue Jays. Joe Carter attended Wichita State University, leaving after his junior year. He was named the Sporting News magazine's College Player of the Year in 1981 In the 1981 draft, the Cubs chose him with the second pick of the first round. Carter first reached the majors in 1983 with the Chicago Cubs, but was traded to the Cleveland Indians the following year, where he blossomed into a star. Carter emerged as a prolific power hitter, hitting as many as 35 home runs in a season and regularly driving in 100 or more runs. He usually hit nearly as many doubles as he did homers, and would get respectable numbers of triples in many years too. He was also a very good baserunner, stealing 20-30 bases a year with a high rate of success; in 1987, Carter became a rare member of the single-season 30–30 club for home runs/stolen bases. However, he was considered a below-average defensive outfielder.

Shannon Matilda Wells Lucid is an American biochemist and a retired NASA astronaut. At one time, she held the record for the longest duration stay... in space by an American, as well as by a woman. She has flown in space five times including a prolonged mission aboard the Mir space station. Lucid was born in Shanghai, China, to Baptist missionary parents Oscar and Myrtle Wells, but grew up in Bethany, Oklahoma and graduated from Bethany High School. She attended the University of Oklahoma and obtained a Ph.D. in biochemistry from that school in 1973. She is married to Michael F. Lucid of Indianapolis, Indiana and they have two daughters and one son, and five granddaughters and one grandson.

Billy Lee Tipton was an American jazz musician and bandleader. Born Dorothy Lucille Tipton, he is also notable for the discovery, after his death,... that he was female assigned at birth. Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Tipton grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, where he was raised by an aunt after his parents' divorce, after which he rarely saw his father, G.W. Tipton, a pilot who sometimes took him for airplane rides. As a high school student, he went by the nickname Tippy and became interested in music, especially jazz. He studied piano and saxophone. He returned to Oklahoma for his final year of high school and joined the school band there. As Tipton began a more serious music career, he adopted his father's nickname, Billy, and more actively worked to pass as male by breast binding and packing. At first, Tipton only presented as male in performance, but by 1940 Tipton was living as a man in his private life as well. Two of Tipton's female cousins, with whom Tipton maintained contact over the years, and perhaps some of his later paramours, were the only persons privy to both sides of Tipton's life.

Graham Colton is an American singer-songwriter from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma most widely known for his hit song "Best Days", featured on the... television series American Idol and Kyle XY . He has toured with John Mayer, Counting Crows, Maroon 5, Dave Matthews Band, NeedToBreathe, and Kelly Clarkson, and appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the Late Show with David Letterman, NBC's Today Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Live with Regis and Kelly. Graham Colton's solo debut, Here Right Now, was released on October 30, 2007. Colton graduated from Heritage Hall School, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. While there, he was the quarterback of the football team. Together with his childhood friend and teammate Wes Welker, now a star wide receiver for the New England Patriots, Colton led his team to a class 2A state championship in 1998 against the Tishomingo Indians. In the process, Colton and Welker set multiple state passing and receiving records, respectively. After leaving his hometown of Oklahoma City to attend Southern Methodist University, Colton began writing and performing songs in Dallas pubs and coffee houses.
