Robert Nimrod "Bob" Miner was a co-founder of Oracle Corporation and architect of Oracle's relational database management system. From 1977 until 1992, Bob Miner led product design and development for the Oracle relational database management system. In Dec., 1992, he left that role and spun off a... small, advanced technology group within Oracle. He was an Oracle board member until Oct., 1993. Bob Miner was born in Cicero, Illinois to an Assyrian family. Both parents came from Ada, a village in the northwest of Iran. Bob Miner graduated in 1963 with a degree in mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 1977 Bob Miner met Larry Ellison at Ampex, where he was Larry's supervisor. Bob Miner left Ampex soon thereafter to found a company called Software Development Laboratories with Ed Oates and Bruce Scott, with Larry Ellison joining the company several months later. It was at this time that Ed Oates introduced Miner and Ellison to a paper by E. F. Codd on the relational model for database management.

Edward A. "Ed" Oates co-founded Software Development Labs in August 1977 with Larry Ellison, and Bob Miner. Software Development Labs later became Oracle Corporation. Ed Oates graduated with a BA in mathematics from San Jose State University in 1968, and worked at Singer, the US Army Personnel... Information Systems Command , Ampex, and Memorex before co-founding Oracle. He retired from the company in 1996. He volunteers time on the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Zoological Society and the Tower Foundation Board of San Jose State University. Mr. Oates recently became one of the limited partners of Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp and has participated in several rock camps. In his spare time Ed skis, builds H0 scale model railroads and does video work for the Woodside Priory School Theater. He also plays in the band Choc'd.

Jeffrey O. Henley is the Chairman of Oracle Corporation. He has held this position since January 2004, prior to which he was the Chief Financial... Officer and an Executive Vice President for 13 years from March 1991 to July 2004. He is also a member of the company's Board of Directors. Prior to joining Oracle in 1991, Henley served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Pacific Holding Company, and as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Saga Corporation. He also served as Director of Finance at Memorex Corporation, and as controller of international operations at Fairchild Semiconductor. Henley holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara and an MBA in Finance from the University of California, Los Angeles. Henley is a member of the Cal Gamma chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon.

Donald T. "Don" Valentine is an influential venture capitalist who concentrates mainly on technology companies in the United States. He has been... called the "grandfather of Silicon Valley venture capital". The Computer History Museum credited him as playing "a key role in the formation of a number of industries such as semiconductors, personal computers, personal computer software, digital entertainment and networking." After graduating with a B.A. from Fordham University, he began his technology career in the 1950s and was a founder of National Semiconductor, as well as being a senior sales and marketing executive for Fairchild Semiconductor. In 1972, he founded venture capital firm Sequoia Capital, and in that role was one of the original investors of Apple Computer, Atari, LSI Logic, Oracle Corporation, Cisco, Electronic Arts, Google, YouTube and many other companies. Valentine is a former Chairman of NetApp and Traiana. He has, over decades, served on the boards of many other technology companies. Valentine was featured in the documentary film Something Ventured which premiered in 2011. Don Valentine has three children and seven grandchildren, all of whom live in the Bay Area.
