George Orson Welles was an American film director, actor, theatre director, screenwriter, and producer, who worked extensively in film, theater, and television after starting his career in radio drama. Welles is noted for his innovative dramatic productions as well as his distinctive voice and personality. He was always an outsider to the studio system and directed only 13 full-length films in his career, although his first feature film, Citizen Kane, is widely considered a seminal movie classic.
