Sir Alec Guinness, CH, CBE was an English actor. After an early career on the stage he was featured in several of the Ealing Comedies, including... Kind Hearts and Coronets in which he played eight different characters. However, he was probably best known for his six collaborations with David Lean: Herbert Pocket in Great Expectations , Fagin in Oliver Twist , Col. Nicholson in The Bridge on the River Kwai , Prince Faisal in Lawrence of Arabia , Yevgraf in Doctor Zhivago , and Professor Godbole in A Passage to India . In later years, he achieved fame with younger audiences for his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in George Lucas’s Star Wars films. Guinness was born at 155 Lauderdale Mansions South, Lauderdale Road, Maida Vale, London as Alec Guinness de Cuffe. His mother's maiden name was Agnes Cuff. She was born 8 December 1890 to Edward Cuff and Mary Ann Benfield. On Guinness's birth certificate, the space for the mother's name shows Agnes de Cuffe. The space for the infant's name says Alec Guinness.

He is the son of Adebisi and Francis Samuel. His mother is Nigerian, while his father is Brazilian. Seal's name, Olusegun, means "God is victorious" in the Yoruba language. He was raised in a district of the City of Westminster in inner London by his foster family. He received a two-year diploma, or associate's degree, in architecture and worked in various jobs in the London area.

His maternal grandmother was Frances Alice Hastings, who descended from the Earls of Huntingdon – Macnee has long suggested that he may be a distant relation of Robin Hood, sometimes said to have been a black sheep of the Huntingdon family. Macnee's great-grandfather was Scottish portrait artist Sir Daniel Macnee. His parents divorced after his mother declared her lesbianism and had a live-in partner who helped pay for young Patrick's schooling. Joan Henrietta Collins, OBE , is an English actress, author and columnist. Born in Paddington and brought up in Maida Vale, Collins grew up during... the Second World War. After making her stage debut in A Doll's House at the age of 9, she was trained as an actress at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. After eighteen months at the drama school, she was signed to an exclusive contract by the Rank Organisation and appeared in various British films. At the age of 22, Collins headed to Hollywood and landed sultry roles in several popular films, including The Girl in the Red Velvet Swing and Rally 'Round the Flag, Boys! . While she continued to make films in the US and the UK throughout the 1960s, her career languished in the 1970s, where she appeared in a number of horror flicks. Near the end of the decade, she starred in two films based on best-selling novels by her younger sister Jackie Collins: The Stud and its sequel The Bitch . Returning to her theatrical roots, she played the title role in the 1980 British revival of The Last of Mrs. Cheyney and later had a lead role in the 1990 revival of Noël Coward's Private Lives.

Glen Matlock is an English bass guitarist most famous for being in the original line-up of the punk rock band the Sex Pistols. His creative... contribution to the band has been disputed. Drummer Paul Cook has said that Matlock came up with much of the music for the band's songs and most of the lyrics, while lead singer Johnny Rotten made some adjustments. Matlock is credited as a co-author on 10 of the 12 songs on Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols. He also continues to make his own records and tour with various bands, including the Sex Pistols. Matlock left the Sex Pistols in late February 1977, the legend being that he was 'thrown out' because he "liked The Beatles." Although Matlock has said that one of his biggest influences is The Faces, the Beatles anecdote is fictional. A claim made by the Pistols guitarist Steve Jones, regarding how he thought it was bizarre that Matlock was "always washing his feet", has also been misquoted and misinterpreted as the cause of Matlock's firing from the group.

Ian F. Mosley is the drummer in the neo-progressive rock band Marillion. Mosley joined the band in 1984 after a long search for a replacement for... Mick Pointer, who had left the band in 1983. He was the fifth drummer to play for Marillion and was frontman Fish's choice for the role, having been unhappy with the band's previous drummers. Mosley had previously, among others, played with former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett, both on two of his solo studio albums and on tour. He also played on the 1975 album Birds by Dutch band Trace and on fellow Marillion bandmate Pete Trewavas' Edison's Children album "In The Last Waking Moments", playing drums on the epic 16 minute "The Awakening". He is still a member of Marillion to this day.

Alan Coren was an English humorist, writer and satirist who was well known as a regular panellist on the BBC radio quiz The News Quiz and a team... captain on BBC television's Call My Bluff. Coren was also a journalist, and for nine years was the editor of Punch magazine. Alan Coren was born in Southgate, North London in 1938, the son of a plumber and a hairdresser. Coren was educated at East Barnet Grammar School, followed by Wadham College at the University of Oxford to which he gained a scholarship, and where he got a First in English in 1960. After taking a Master's degree he studied for a doctorate in modern American literature at Yale and the University of California, Berkeley. Coren considered an academic career but decided instead to become a writer and journalist. He began this career by selling articles to Punch and was later offered a full-time job there. At this time he also wrote for The New Yorker. In 1966, he became Punch's literary editor, and went on to become deputy editor in 1969 and editor in 1978. He remained as editor until 1987 when the circulation began to decline.
