The United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration was an international relief agency, largely dominated by the United States but... representing 44 nations. Founded in 1943, it became part of the United Nations in 1945, was especially active in 1945 and 1946, and largely shut down operations in 1947. Its purpose was to "plan, co-ordinate, administer or arrange for the administration of measures for the relief of victims of war in any area under the control of any of the United Nations through the provision of food, fuel, clothing, shelter and other basic necessities, medical and other essential services". Its staff of civil servants included 12,000 people, with headquarters in New York. Funding came from many nations, and totaled $3.7 billion, of which the United States contributed $2.7 billion; Britain $625 million and Canada $139 million. UNRRA cooperated closely with dozens of volunteer charitable organizations, who sent hundreds of their own agencies to work alongside UNRRA.

The League of Nations was an intergovernmental organization founded as a result of the Paris Peace Conference that ended the First World War. It was... the first permanent international organization whose principal mission was to maintain world peace. Its primary goals, as stated in its Covenant, included preventing war through collective security and disarmament, and settling international disputes through negotiation and arbitration. Other issues in this and related treaties included labour conditions, just treatment of native inhabitants, human and drug trafficking, arms trade, global health, prisoners of war, and protection of minorities in Europe. At its greatest extent from 28 September 1934 to 23 February 1935, it had 58 members. The diplomatic philosophy behind the League represented a fundamental shift from the preceding hundred years. The League lacked its own armed force and depended on the Great Powers to enforce its resolutions, keep to its economic sanctions, or provide an army when needed. However, the Great Powers were often reluctant to do so. Sanctions could hurt League members, so they were reluctant to comply with them.

The UN was founded in 1945 after World War II to replace the League of Nations, to stop wars between countries, and to provide a platform for dialogue. It contains multiple subsidiary organizations to carry out its missions. There are currently 193 member states, including every internationally recognised sovereign state in the world but Vatican City. From its offices around the world, the UN and its specialized agencies decide on substantive and administrative issues in regular meetings held throughout the year.

Stephen Arthur Stills is an American guitarist and singer/songwriter best known for his work with Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills & Nash... . He has performed on a professional level in several other bands as well as maintaining a solo career at the same time. Stills was ranked #28 in Rolling Stone Magazine's 2003 list of "The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time". Stills became the first person to be inducted twice on the same night into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his work with CSN and the Buffalo Springfield. Stills was raised in a military family. Moving around as a child, he developed an interest in blues and folk music. He was also influenced by Latin music after spending his youth in Gainesville and Tampa, Florida, Louisiana, Costa Rica, Panama Canal Zone and El Salvador, where he graduated from high school, and was an avid sailor. He also attended Admiral Farragut Academy in St. Petersburg, Florida and Saint Leo College Preparatory School in Saint Leo, Florida. Stills dropped out of the Louisiana State University to pursue a music career in the early 1960s.

Jordana Brewster is a Brazilian-American actress. She began her acting career in her late teens, with a 1995 one-episode role in the soap opera All... My Children. She followed that appearance with the recurring role as Nikki Munson in As the World Turns, for which Brewster was nominated for Outstanding Teen Performer at the 1997 Soap Opera Digest Award. She also landed a starring role in a 1999 NBC television miniseries entitled The 60s. Her breakthrough role came in the 2001 high budget car-themed action film The Fast and the Furious, which was a worldwide success. Brewster began being widely recognized. Other film credits include the 2004 action comedy film D.E.B.S., the 2005 independent drama Nearing Grace and the 2006 horror film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, for which she received two Teen Choice Award nominations.

Alex O. Solis is a jockey based in the United States. He currently lives in Glendora, California and rides predominantly in Southern California. He... got his big break and his first gained national prominence when he won the 1986 Preakness Stakes with Snow Chief. In 2002, he was inducted in the Calder Race Course Hall of Fame. Solis won two Breeders' Cup races in 2003 with Johar in the Breeders' Cup Turf and aboard Pleasantly Perfect in the Classic, both trained by Richard Mandella. Also finished second aboard Mandella-trained Minister Eric in the Juvenile that year at Santa Anita Park. He ended the year ranked fourth nationally in purse earnings with a career-best $16,304,252. Alex Solis finished second in the Kentucky Derby three out of four years with Captain Bodgit in 1997, Victory Gallop in 1998 and Aptitude in 2000. Winner of the 2006 Santa Anita Derby aboard Brother Derek. On February 28, 2009, Solis won the Sham Stakes aboard The Pamplemousse, who is part-owned by his son, Alex Solis II. Solis is one of the jockeys featured in Animal Planet's 2009 reality documentary, Jockeys.

Santiago Jose Stevenson Ortiz was born in Panama City, Panama. He was a singer, composer and ordained minister. Since his early age, he felt... motivated by singing; therefore, he began his musical Christian ministry when he was 17 years old. He is considered a pioneer of the Christian music all over Latin America for what he was awarded “El Arpa de Oro” in Miami, Florida in 1989. The nickname “El Trovador Evangelico” was given to him by a radio program in a Christian broadcasting station in Panama City, where he worked as the Programming Director and Announcer for many years. He finished his career in English at the University of Panama, and later became high school English teacher, until he decided to resign to devote completely to the Christian music ministry. He has traveled all over Central, South and North America, and Europe, where he was presented as “El Trovador de las Americas”. He married miss Eusebia Moreno in 1952, and he has four children, five granddaughters and one grandson. In 1999 he received a surprise tribute in life, for his 52 years in the musical ministry, to which many friends and Christian Panamanian artists attended.
