Papillion

Werner Park is a new ballpark near Papillion, Nebraska. Owned by Sarpy County, it is primarily used for baseball and is the home of the Omaha Storm... Chasers of the Pacific Coast League. The club, formerly known as the Omaha Royals, moved from Rosenblatt Stadium in south Omaha into Werner Park on December 17, 2010. The ballpark cost $36 million to construct and is located near 126th Street and Highway 370, less than three miles west of Papillion in unincorporated Sarpy County. Groundbreaking for the new stadium took place August 12, 2009. On November 11, 2010, the Storm Chasers announced they had reached an agreement with Omaha-based transportation company and longtime sponsor Werner Enterprises for the ballpark's naming rights. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. The stadium opened for its first game on April 11, 2011 with a high school game between Papillion's two high schools, Papillion South and Papillion-LaVista. The South Titans won 2-0 over the Monarchs. The Omaha Storm Chasers opened the ballpark on April 16, 2011 with a 2-1 victory over the Nashville Sounds. Top prospect Eric Hosmer went 3-for-3 in the victory.

Nebraska is a state on the Great Plains of the Midwestern United States. Its state capital is Lincoln and its largest city is Omaha, on the Missouri River. The state is crossed by many historic trails, but it was the California Gold Rush that first brought large numbers here, and it became a state in 1867. The state is characterized by treeless prairie, ideal for cattle-grazing, and it is a major producer of beef, as well as pork, maize and soybeans. Nebraska is overwhelmingly rural, as the 8th least-densely populated state of the United States, with only one Metropolitan Class City. Ethnically, the largest group are German-Americans, and the state has the biggest Czech-American population per head. During the Great Migration, many African Americans came to Omaha, and they continue to campaign for improved conditions.
