Peoria Civic Center is a convention center located next to Peoria City Hall in downtown Peoria, Illinois. USA. It has an arena, a theater, an exhibit... hall, and meeting rooms. It was built in 1982 and completed an expansion to expand its lobby and meeting facilities in 2008. Carver Arena is the home of the Bradley University Braves men's basketball team and the Peoria Rivermen American Hockey League ice hockey team, and was formerly home to the Peoria Pirates arena football team. Prior to playing at Carver Arena, Bradley hosted its games at Robertson Memorial Field House. It hosted the 1988 Missouri Valley Conference men's basketball tournament title game. It seats 10,129 for hockey and indoor football, 11,164 for basketball and up to 12,145 for concerts. Carver Arena also plays host to the Illinois High School Association boys' basketball state finals for two weeks every March. The interactive March Madness Experience takes places in the adjacent exhibition hall during the tournaments. Concerts, circuses, trade shows by 238 feet for 29,512 square feet of space, wrestling matches and other events are held here.

The Judge John C. Flanagan Residence is a house in Peoria, Illinois, United States. The home was constructed for Judge John C. Flanagan, a... Philadelphia native, in 1837. The house was either part of an original 620-acre tract purchased by Flanagan's father from local Native American tribes or part of a 20-acre tract purchased by Flanagan when he came to Peoria in 1831. It is believed that Abraham Lincoln was once a guest in the home during the Lincoln-Douglas debates from 1854 to 1860. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 5, 1975. The house is now operated by the Peoria Historical Society as the John C. Flanagan House Museum, an 19th century period historic house museum. The house also serves as the headquarters for the Peoria Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Charles James Correll was an American radio comedian, best known for his work on the Amos 'n' Andy show with Freeman S. Gosden. Correll voiced the... central character of Andy Brown, along with various supporting characters. Before teaming up with Gosden, Correll worked as a stenographer and a bricklayer. The two men met in Durham, North Carolina while working for the Joe Bren Producing Company. Both Correll and Freeman vacationed at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin in the 1930s and would broadcast Amos 'n' Andy from there. From 1928 to 1934, the team never took a vacation away from their radio show. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Amos 'n' Andy on the air, the broadcast of March 19, 1958 was done by Correll and Gosden using their real voices and calling each other by their real names; this had never been done on the show before. Correll's first marriage to Marie Janes headed for divorce court on May 26, 1937; the couple had been married for ten years and had no children. On September 11, 1937 in Glendale, California, he married Alyce McLaughlin, a former dancer; they had six children, Dorothy, Charles, Barbara, John, and Richard.

This legacy can be attributed, in part, to the unusual degree of intimacy Pryor brought to bear on his comedy. As Bill Cosby reportedly once said, "Richard Pryor drew the line between comedy and tragedy as thin as one could possibly paint it." Fulton John Sheen, was an American archbishop of the Catholic Church known for his preaching and especially his work on television and radio. His... cause for canonization for sainthood was officially opened in 2002, so he is now referred to as a Servant of God. Ordained a priest of the Diocese of Peoria in 1919, Sheen quickly became a renowned theologian, earning the Cardinal Mercier Prize for International Philosophy in 1923. He went on to teach theology and philosophy as well as acting as a parish priest before being appointed Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of New York in 1951. He held this position until 1966 when he was made the Bishop of Rochester from October 21 to October 6, 1969, when he resigned and was made the Archbishop of the Titular See of Newport, Wales. For 20 years he hosted the night-time radio program The Catholic Hour before moving to television and presenting Life Is Worth Living . Sheen's final presenting role was on the syndicated The Fulton Sheen Program with a format very similar to that of the earlier Life is Worth Living show.

David Ogden Stiers is an American actor, director, vocal actor, and musician, noted for his roles in Disney movies, as well as his performances in... the television series M*A*S*H as Major Charles Emerson Winchester III and the science fiction drama The Dead Zone as Reverend Gene Purdy. He is also known for the role of District Attorney Michael Reston in the Perry Mason TV movies. Stiers was born in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Margaret Elizabeth and Kenneth Truman Stiers. He attended Urbana High School, at the same time as film critic Roger Ebert. He later relocated to Eugene, Oregon, where he graduated from North Eugene High School and briefly attended the University of Oregon. He later ventured to San Francisco, where he performed with the California Shakespeare Theater, San Francisco Actors Workshop, and the improv group The Committee, whose members included Rob Reiner and Howard Hesseman. Soon after, Stiers studied at the Juilliard School as a member of the drama division's first class , which also included Patti LuPone and Kevin Kline.

Larry Kenney is an American radio personality and voice actor. In 1963, Kenney began his radio career at the age of 15 as a disc jockey at WIRL in... Peoria. After WIRL, he worked at WOWO, Ft. Wayne, Indiana; WKYC , Cleveland ;WHN, New York City WYNY, New York City; WJJD , Chicago; and WKHK , New York City until 1972. Kenney was part of the regular cast on the Imus in the Morning radio show from 1973 to 2007, where he recorded impersonations of dozens of characters, including General George Patton, Andy Rooney and Ross Perot. Also in 1973, Kenney joined 1050 WHN , a country music station in New York City. He originally announced the afternoon drive-time, before taking over the prestigious morning drive-time in 1974. He stayed at WHN until the fall of 1979. His show was a hit, not only for the music, but also for his comical characters who "joined" him while performing his deejay duties. He was the host of the New York edition of the television show Bowling for Dollars on WOR-TV from 1976 to 1979.

LaHood, a Lebanese American who managed a restaurant, and Mary A. LaHood , who was of German ancestry. He graduated from Spalding Institute, worked his way through Canton Junior College and Bradley University in Peoria, earning a Bachelors of Science in education and sociology in 1971. Following graduation, he taught junior high school social studies at public and Catholic schools, and has said that "teaching kids about the constitution and government" stirred his interest in politics. LaHood was director of the Rock Island County Youth Services Bureau and then district administrative assistant for U.S. congressman Tom Railsback, a Moline, Illinois Republican, from 1977 to 1982.

Bruce Arthur Johnston is a member of The Beach Boys and a songwriter, remembered especially for composing "I Write the Songs". Johnston was not one... of the original members of the band. He joined the band on April 9, 1965 after Glen Campbell decided to embark on a solo career. Johnston's first vocal recording with the Beach Boys was "California Girls." As a child Johnston was adopted by William and Irene Johnston of Chicago, and grew up on the West side of Los Angeles in Brentwood and Bel-Air. His adoptive father was president of the Owl Rexall Drug Company in Los Angeles after moving from Walgreens in Chicago. Johnston attended private school Bel-Air Town And Country School in Los Angeles and also studied classical piano in his early years. In high school, Johnston switched to contemporary music. He performed in a few "beginning" bands during this time and then moved on to working with young musicians such as Sandy Nelson, Kim Fowley and Phil Spector.

John Richard Wimber was a musician, charismatic pastor and one of the founding leaders of the Vineyard Movement, a neocharismatic Evangelical... Christian denomination which began in the USA and has now spread to many countries world-wide. John Richard Wimber was the son of Basil Wimber and Genevieve Estelynn Wimber. Some say he was born in Kirksville, Missouri, while others say he was born in Peoria, Illinois. California death records say he was born in Missouri. He was raised in a non-religious family, but converted to evangelical Christianity in May 1963. He had previously been the keyboard player in the band The Paramours. Some have attributed the formation of the band The Righteous Brothers to Wimber since he was the one who brought Bobby Hatfield and Bill Medley together for the band The Paramours in 1962. In the following years he attended a Quaker church in Yorba Linda, California. During this time, he led hundreds of others to convert to Christianity. By 1970, he was leading 11 different Bible study groups that involved more than 500 people.
