Capricorn Records was an independent record label which was launched by Phil Walden, Alan Walden, and Frank Fenter in 1969 in Macon, Georgia. Capricorn was the recording label for many Southern rock and soul bands in the 1970s including The Allman Brothers Band, the Marshall Tucker Band, Elvin... Bishop, Wet Willie, Jonathan Edwards, Captain Beyond, White Witch, Grinderswitch, Cowboy, Hydra, Kitty Wells, Dobie Gray, Alex Taylor and Stillwater. Initially the label was distributed by WEA/Warner Music Group Elektra Records , and later by PolyGram Records. Capricorn went out of business in October 1979. Gregg Atwill was an engineer with Capricorn throughout the 1970s. The label was later relaunched out of Nashville, Tennessee as a joint-venture with Warner Bros. in the early 1990s. Distribution later jumped to Sony Music's independent RED Distribution network, then back to PolyGram, by way of its flagship label, Mercury Records. The first act to sign onto the resurrected label was Athens, Georgia's Widespread Panic.

Point Blank Records is a record label subsidiary of Virgin Records. Point Blank Records was founded in 1998 by John Wooler. Wooler served as Deputy Head of A&R at Virgin Records UK from 1984-1994 and Senior Vice President of Virgin Records US from 1994-2002. He had a passion for blues,... Americana and soul. His manager, Simon Draper granted him a small budget to create the label. The first act signed to the record label was Larry McCray followed by Albert Collins and The Kinsey Report. As time moved forward, artists such as John Lee Hooker, Solomon Burke, Pops Staples, John Hammond, Walter "Wolfman" Washington, Van Morrison, and Johnny Winter were signed to the label as well. Wooler signed all the musicians on this label and produced many of them.

Greene was previously associated with New York City's Times Square Record Shop, Philadelphia's Record Museum retail chain, and the Lost Nite and Crimson record labels. Collectables is the largest independently-owned reissue... label in the United States. It maintains a catalogue of over 3,400 active titles on compact disc, with thousands of additional titles available on vinyl. It has released hundreds of recordings from the vaults of major labels such as Columbia, Atlantic, RCA, Capitol, Vee-Jay and others, making many available on CD for the first time. Genres found on Collectables include nearly every style of rock music, plus jazz, comedy, blues, doo-wop, funk, and many others. Collectables publishes the Priceless Collection series of budget compilations. Many of the label's other releases combine the contents of two original LPs on a single CD. The company also manufactures multi-CD compilation box sets sold exclusively through retailers such as QVC, Costco and Sam's Club.
