Perth Arena will be a new indoor sporting and entertainment arena located on Wellington Street in the city centre of Perth, Western Australia. It is... currently being built on the site of the former carpark for the now defunct Perth Entertainment Centre. With a requested minimum capacity of 12,000 for sporting events and 14,000 for concerts, Cameron Chisholm & Nicol Pty Ltd and ARM Architects have designed the venue to seat up to 13,910 for tennis events and 14,846 for basketball and a maximum of 15,500 for concerts. The architecture of Perth Arena is partly based on the Eternity Puzzle and the Round House. The facility is being built in the heart of the city close to major transport hubs, particularly the William and Wellington Street platforms of the Perth Train Station and the Wellington Street Bus Station. It is considered to be the first stage of the Perth City Link project which will involve the sinking of the railway line between the Wellington Street Train Station and Lake Street. The venue will have a retractable roof and trucks will access the site directly off the Freeway via Market Street.

The Perth Concert Hall is a concert hall in the centre of Perth, Western Australia. Situated between St Georges Terrace and Terrace Road, it is... located near Government House, the Supreme Court Gardens and the Swan Bells, with a view to the Swan River. The Perth Concert Hall was constructed between 1971 and 1973 on land that was originally part of the Government Domain. It was built by Sabemo Pty Ltd to a design by architects Jeffrey Howlett and Don Bailey. The building was opened in January 1973. Since its construction, the venue has been in continuous use as a centre for musical performance, and for other events such as school and university graduation ceremonies, business conventions and civic functions. As early as 1950, the City of Perth secured a site between Stirling Gardens and Government House, occupied by the Department of Agriculture and the Australian Broadcasting Commission for the construction of a new town hall. The proposed site provoked vigorous public debate.

The Alexander Library Building, in the Cultural Centre of Perth, Western Australia, houses the State Library of Western Australia, J S Battye... Library, State Records Office, in the Perth Cultural Precinct in Northbridge in Perth, Western Australia. The building falls under the responsibility of the Western Australian government Department of Culture and Arts. The sloped walkway just east of the building runs roughly along the alignment of the old Museum Street, which ran between James Street and Francis Street. The street had one of the most mixed and unique streetscapes in this area of Northbridge - which was all removed in the construction of the new library building. Only one building is commemorated on the Alexander Library Building structure - the Perth Baptist Church which was in Museum Street from 1899 to 1979. The Theosophical Bookshop and library was long established at the corner of Museum and James Streets. The streetscape can be found in Wise's Directories for the earlier decades.

Council House is a 13-storey office building set beside Stirling Gardens on St Georges Terrace in Perth, Western Australia. The 47.9-metre building... was designed by Howlett and Bailey Architects and opened by The Queen in 1963 after Perth hosted the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games. For most of its history, it has served as the headquarters for the City of Perth. Built in a modernist style, the building has been the subject of vigorous public debate about its heritage value. Some parties, such as the Royal Australian Institute of Architects, consider the building to be an important example of modernist architecture in the city, whilst others consider it ugly. These conflicting views led to animosity in the 1990s, when the State Government refused to heritage list the property, and instead recommended its demolition. Despite this, the City of Perth opted to renovate the tower and keep it as its headquarters. Following this, the building was admitted to the State's Heritage Register. The site was originally home to the Colony's governing Legislative Council in a building which came to be known as the Old Government Offices or Public Offices.

The Art Gallery of Western Australia is a public gallery that is part of the Perth Cultural Centre, in Perth, Western Australia. It is located near... the Western Australian Museum and State Library of Western Australia. The current gallery opened in 1979. The State's art collection consists of over 15,500 works of art, and the Art Gallery is visited by approximately 400,000 people annually. The Art Gallery was originally housed in the Jubilee Building with the State Museum and Library. The Jubilee Building, which was intended to be a public library only, was to be opened in honour of Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee in 1887, but instead, only the first stone for the foundation was laid. The foundation stone was laid for the Art Gallery in July 1901 by the Duke of Cornwall and York, shortly after the federation of Australia. Several notable individuals were involved with the development of the Jubilee Building and Art Gallery, including John Winthrop Hackett, James Battye, Ludwig Glauert, George Pitt Morison and George Temple-Poole. The Art Gallery Administration Building is housed in the former Police Quarters, designed by architect Hillson Beasley, who also designed Government House.

First coming to prominence for her role as Sybylla Melvyn in the coming-of-age saga My Brilliant Career , for which she won BAFTA Awards for Best Actress and Best Newcomer, she also played the lead in such Australian New Wave classics as Winter of Our Dreams and Heatwave .

Alan Fletcher is an Australian actor and musician, best known for his role as Karl Kennedy in long-running soap opera Neighbours. Fletcher was... educated at Wesley College, Perth. Fletcher's first widely seen role was in police drama Cop Shop from 1982 until production ceased the following year. He followed this with an appearance in US series The Love Boat and various Australian feature films, TV movies, and miniseries. He briefly acted in Neighbours in 1987 as Greg Cooper, a run-down, dishonest boxer working in Jim Robinson's garage. In 1994, Fletcher successfully auditioned for the role of Karl Kennedy in the soap, a role which he continues to play. In 2005, Fletcher starred as Henry Higgins in a production of My Fair Lady at the Melbourne Comedy Theatre. He is also a prominent member of the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance, a role which saw him become a vocal critic of the 2004 US-Australia Free Trade Agreement, including an appearance on the political talk-show Meet the Press.

Cristian Alexanda is an Australian R&B singer from Perth. In 2003/04, he has supported a number of well-known acts on their Australian tours... including 50 Cent, G-Unit and Sean Paul and Justin Timberlake. His first single Misunderstood was released on 24 May 2004. It debut in the top 30 at number 29 and peaked at 22 two weeks later. "Misunderstood' was a very popular club and radio anthem in Australia and was certified gold in 2005. The song was taken from his debut album Cristyle produced by The Ignorants and Blacksmith, who had also produced track's for Blue and Craig David. The second single "Party Anthem" was released in July 2004 and debut in the top 20 at number 19. It peaked at 16 and stayed in the top 30 for 8 weeks. It was certified Gold in 2005 after huge pop radio success. Alexanda was always criticised buy his peers for his risky choice in song writing and lyrical content. Alexanda said in later interviews for his second album, Urban Nature, that his party lifestyle while writing and recording his 1st album made him draw inspiration from other places inside of him.

Gigi Edgley is an Australian actress and recording artist. She is best known for her roles as Chiana on the series Farscape and Lara Knight in... Rescue: Special Ops. Edgley was born in Perth. She is the daughter of concert and circus promoter Michael Edgley, known for bringing the Moscow State Circus to Australia during the 1980s. Her mother, Jeni Edgley, is now involved in managing a 250-acre health retreat. As a child, Gigi Edgley performed both in and out of school. She also took several years of ballet, jazz, and character dance. She became mainly interested in acting and had her first professional theatrical engagement at the Twelfth Night Theatre. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Queensland University of Technology in 1998. As a believer in the school of method acting, Gigi has developed a broad set of skills and experiences for her roles. Edgley is proficient in ballet, jazz, character dance, singing, and martial arts. Her signature skill is fire-twirling.
