Premnath Malhotra was an actor in Indian films. Born in Peshawar in a Hindkowan family, his family moved to Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh after... partition, he then had moved to Bombay. He married the actress Bina Rai with whom he fathered actor Prem Krishen and Kailash Nath . They are also the grandparents of actress Akanksha Malhotra and director Siddharth Malhotra. His sister Krishna married Raj Kapoor and his brothers Rajindernath and Narendranath were also actors mostly in comic and supporting roles. He was also a family friend of the actress Asha Parekh. He died of a heart attack in 1992 at the age of sixty six Premnath made his film debut in Ajit , opposite Monica Desai, and was one of the first colour films. He got major roles in Raj Kapoor's first directorial film Aag and Barsaat which was his first major success. Premnath went on to appear in many films for the next three decades, some of which were the biggest blockbusters in Indian film history.

Dilip Kumar, born Muhammad Yusuf Khan on 11 December 1922, is an Indian actor and a former Member of Parliament. He is commonly known as "Tragedy... King", and is described as "the ultimate method actor" by Satyajit Ray. Starting his career with Jwar Bhata in 1944, Kumar's career has spanned five decades and over 60 films. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest actors in the history of Hindi cinema. Kumar was the first actor to receive a Filmfare Best Actor Award and holds the record for the most number of Filmfare Awards won for that category with Shahrukh Khan; eight wins. He starred in films of a variety of genres such as the romantic Andaz , the swashbuckling Aan , the dramatic Devdas , the comical Azaad , the historical Mughal-e-Azam and the social Ganga Jamuna . In 1976, Kumar took a five-year break from film performances. In 1981, he returned with a character role in the film Kranti and continued his career playing central character roles in films such as Shakti , Karma and Saudagar . His last film was Qila in 1998.

Prithviraj Kapoor , 3 November 1906 –29 May 1972 was a pioneer of Indian theatre and of the Hindi film industry, who started his career as an... actor, in the silent era of Hindi cinema, associated with IPTA and who founded Prithvi Theatres, a travelling theatre company based in Mumbai, in 1944. He was also the patriarch of the Kapoor family of Hindi films, five generations of which family, beginning with him, have played active roles in Hindi film industry. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Bhushan in 1969 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1971 for his contributions towards Indian cinema. Prithviraj was born on November 3, 1906 at Samundri near the town of Lyallpur in Punjab, then under British colonial rule. His ancestors had earlier lived in Peshawar. Prithviraj could speak English, Hindi, Punjabi, and Hindko. His father, Dewan Basheswarnath Kapoor, was a sub-inspector of police. Prithviraj received his initial education at Khalsa College Lyallpur and at Lahore. His paternal grandfather, Dewan Keshavmal, was a powerful influence during his childhood.

Vinod Khanna is an Indian actor, film producer and politician. Khanna was born in Peshawar to Kamla and Kishanchand Khanna, a textiles, dyes and... chemicals businessman of punjabi Khatri origin, on 6 October 1946, in Peshawar, British India . He has three sisters and one brother. Shortly after his birth, India was partitioned and the family left Peshawar and reached Mumbai . At Mumbai, he attended Queen Mary School, Bombay until class II and then transferred to St. Xavier's High School, Fort. In 1957, the family again moved to Delhi where he attended Delhi Public School, Mathura Road. Although the family moved back to Mumbai in 1960, he was sent to Barnes School in Deolali, near Nashik. It was during his time at the boarding school that he watched the epic Mughal-e-Azam and fell in love with motion pictures. He graduated with a commerce degree from Sydenham College. Vinod Khanna debuted in Sunil Dutt's 1968 film Man Ka Meet as a villain.

Achala Sachdev was an Indian film actress who started her career as a child actor. She later became known for mother and grandmother roles in Hindi... films. Her most memorable roles were as Balraj Sahni's wife in 1965 film Waqt, and Kajol's grandmother in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge . Born in Peshawar in 1920, Achala made her film debut with Fashionable Wife , and acted in over 130 Hindi films. Achala became an resident of Pune after marrying to Clifford Douglas Peters who had a factory in Pune Bhosari industrial estate named Morris Electronics which was later sold to Piramal Group. Achala has one child, son Jyotin from her first marriage who live in US, two grandchildren and one great grandson. In September 2011, Achala slipped and fell in her kitchen. She sustained a fracture in her leg. After, she was diagnosed with multiple emboli in her brain. This resulted in total paralysis and the loss of her vision. She has acted in many Yash Raj Films, apart from acting in English language films like the Mark Robson film Nine Hours to Rama and Merchant Ivory film, The Householder .
