Philip Joseph "Phil" Hughes is an American right-handed baseball pitcher who has played 5 seasons in Major League Baseball for the New York Yankees. He was the Yankees' first-round pick in the 2004 Major League Baseball Draft. During his time in the Yankees' minor-league system, Hughes became one of the most highly anticipated prospects in baseball. He debuted in the Major Leagues in 2007, and quickly demonstrated his potential with a bid for a no-hitter in only his 2nd MLB start.
