Porto

The Episcopal Palace of Porto is the former residence of the bishops of Porto, in Portugal. The palace is located on a high elevation, near Porto... Cathedral, and dominates the skyline of the city. It is part of the historical centre of Porto, designated World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The palace is an important example of late baroque and rococo civil architecture in the city. The original Episcopal Palace of Porto was built in the 12th or 13th century, as attested by some architectural vestiges like romanesque-style windows that exist inside the present building. In 1387, this mediaeval palace witnessed the marriage of John I of Portugal and Philippa of Lancaster. During the 16th and 17th centuries the palace was greatly enlarged, and an old drawing shows it to be composed of a series of buildings with towers, as was typical for the architecture of Portuguese manor houses of the period. The present palace, however, is the result of a radical rebuilding campaign carried out in the 18th century, which turned it into a baroque work.

The Estádio das Antas was the third stadium of the Portuguese football side FC Porto. It was in use from 1952 to 2004, replacing the earlier... Campo da Constituição and later replaced by Estádio do Dragão. As well the stadium, it had an indoor arena and three training grounds. The club's offices were also split between the inside of the stadium and the Torre das Antas, built in front of the stadium during the 1990s. It was demolished in 2004. The stadium was split with six different areas. The Poente and Maratona being the best seats, while the most financially accessible remained both Superior Norte, Superior Sul and Arquibancada. between the Norte and Poente were the seats for the away supporters. Each stand was split into different sectors. While the Poente had 4, both Maratona and Arquibancada had 5, and both Superiores had 9, but two in Norte were reserved for away supporters. In games there wasn't expected much turnout from away fans, but high from Porto supporters, the away fan sector was often reduced to the half.

The Estádio do Bessa is a football stadium located in the Boavista area of Porto, Portugal, used by Boavista. Like other stadiums used in Euro... 2004, the Bessa is a new ground, but built on top of the old stands, and each one of them was built at a time, which allowed Boavista to continue playing there. It cost €45,164,726 to build, from which €7,785,735 were supported from the Portuguese state, and has an all-seater capacity of 28,263. Plans for improvement actually existed before the organization of the Euro 2004 was given to Portugal in 1999, and by then the first works were already underway. It was designed by Grupo3 arquitectura. The following national team matches were held in the stadium.
