The Adriance Memorial Library is the main public library of the Poughkeepsie Public Library District, serving the city and town of Poughkeepsie, New... York, United States. It is on Market Street south of downtown. It is a member library of the Mid-Hudson Library System, which has its headquarters next door. The Adriance Memorial Library, named after a family who provided funding for the construction of its building in 1897, is the oldest tax-supported library in New York State and the third oldest in the United States, dating back to 1839 at various locations prior to the construction of the current building. The building, which was expanded in 1922, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. The single-story Tennessee marble domed building features a parapeted roof, projecting cornice with modillions, plain frieze and central pavilion with four Corinthian columns. Decorative panels on the facade feature torch and swag motifs. The interior features Tiffany brass plaques and intact oak woodwork. The library's annual report described it as a Renaissance Revival building, but today it is more frequently described as Classical Revival.

The Poughkeepsie Savings Bank building is located at 21-23 Market Street in that city. It was the third home of that bank, the first in the city,... chartered in 1831 by William Davies, on that site. After 20 years on nearby Main Street, the bank bought one of its current lots and built. In 1870 the adjacent lot was purchased and the building expanded yet again, reopening anew two years later. In 1911 the bank's success led it to commission a completely new building from the firm of Mowbray and Uffinger, who had designed many bank buildings across the Eastern states. They delivered a Classical Revival building, with slightly trapezoidal walls reflecting the constraints of the site. Its front facade, made of Pennsylvania marble on a granite base, uses two Ionic order columns flanked by Doric pilasters. The deeply recessed entryway and vestibule is done in cast bronze and ornamental glass. Inside, the main banking room is a 40 by 40 foot with 60-foot ceilings, with Ionic pilasters and a continuous entablature rising from a white marble floor and red marble wainscot.

The Dutchess County Courthouse is located at 10 Market Street in downtown Poughkeepsie, New York, United States. It is the third county courthouse to... stand on that site. The first was authorized by the provincial assembly in 1717 and built in 1720, and would host New York's debate on ratifying the U.S. Constitution during the brief period when Poughkeepsie served as the state capital in 1788. It was destroyed in an 1806 fire. Three years later the state legislature appropriated funds for a new one, which stood for almost a century. An early tenant beside the courts was Matthew Vassar, later founder of Vassar College, who ran a saloon and oyster bar in the basement. It was replaced by the current structure, built in 1903 at a cost of a half million dollars and opened and dedicated just before the end of the year. It was designed by local architect William J. Beardsley in a Classical Revival style, a four-story building with red brick facing and Palladian windows in the second and fifth-story center bays with stucco decoration above.

The Farmer's and Manufacturer's Bank building is located at the corner of Market and Cannon streets in downtown Poughkeepsie, New York, United... States, near the Bardavon and across from the Dutchess County Court House and Old Poughkeepsie YMCA. It the only non-residential Greek Revival building remaining in the city. The three-bay, 2⁄2-story brick building was opened to the public in 1835, the year after it was built. Signatures of the then-popular Greek Revival style include the wide frieze and pilasters on the first story, eyebrow windows, balustrade and cupola. The brick is complemented by stone trim, particularly around the windows. First-floor ornamentation includes a stone entablature with dentil molding and four laurel wreaths. It would be a landmark of the city's downtown for much of the 19th century. The bank itself would later become Empire National Bank and relocate elsewhere. One of its original trustees and later president was Matthew Vassar, founder of the eponymous college. Originally it had a front porch, which was removed in 1892. That has been the only significant alteration to the building's exterior. On the inside, the windows were elongated and lengthened.

Rhodes' maternal grandfather Dave Stamper wrote songs for the Ziegfeld Follies of 1913 through 1931, as well as composing the music for several other Broadway shows. A family legend claims that Stamper wrote the well-known song "Shine On, Harvest Moon" in 1903 for Nora Bayes when he was working as her Vaudeville piano accompanist, but sold the rights and credit to Bayes and her husband Jack Norworth. Rhodes' parents divorced when she was young. Rhodes has two brothers who are twins.

During the Second World War, she became an acclaimed war correspondent for Vogue covering events such as the London Blitz, the liberation of Paris, and the concentration camps at Buchenwald and Dachau. Lee Miller was born on April 23, 1907 in Poughkeepsie, New York. Her parents were Theodore and Florence Miller . Her father was of German descent, and her mother a Canadian of Scottish and Irish descent. She had a younger brother named Erik, and older brother named John. Theodore always favored Lee, and he often used her as a model for his amateur photography. When she was eight years old, she was raped while staying with a family friend in Brooklyn. Soon after, it was realized that Lee had contracted gonorrhea. The rape , had a life-long traumatizing effect upon her.

He directed episodes of several noteworthy 1980s television series, including Hill Street Blues and Miami Vice.

Tom Holland is an American film director. Holland was born in Poughkeepsie, New York, the son of Lee and Tom Holland. He graduated from Worcester... Academy in 1962. He is the uncle of Dexter Holland , the singer and guitarist for the American punk rock band, The Offspring, and father of American actor Josh Holland. He founded alongside his compatriot David Chackler the horror film company Dead Rabbit Films; the first feature premiere film was the remake of Fright Night. Holland is also reportedly scheduled to be writing and directing a feature-length anthology of horror shorts titled Twisted Tales. On directing, he would be famous for writing and directing twisted tales ordinary people facing the unknown and evil beings from beyond. He began by writing the scripts of the films The Beast Within and Psycho II, followed later by directing Fright Night, Child's Play, and the TV films The Stranger Within and The Langoliers. The only non horror film he made was the crime comedy-drama Fatal Beauty. In December 2009 Holland was cast for Adam Green's Hatchet 2, who will stars alongside Danielle Harris, Tony Todd and Kane Hodder.
