Quote.com is a financial market quote system and web portal centered around financial information web content. It began as a search engine project by Christopher Cooper in 1993. It was incorporated late in 1993 and went on to become one of the original financial web portals online. With backing by Sequoia Capital along with other sources of capital , it grew very fast during the original dot com era.  Quote.com was acquired in September 1999 by Terra Lycos becoming a component of one of the world's largest Internet companies.
