Leon Scott Kennedy is a player character appearing in the Resident Evil series of survival horror video games. Leon is a protagonist character in... Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 6. During the events of RE2, Leon is a new police officer who arrives in Raccoon City late for his first day on the job, only to confront the T-virus outbreak first-hand. Six years later in RE4, Leon returns as a secret agent for the U.S. government, assigned to rescue the President's daughter. Leon also appears as a player character in Resident Evil Gaiden and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, and plays a leading role in the CG animated film Resident Evil: Degeneration. The live-action film version of Leon will appear in Resident Evil: Retribution, where he will be portrayed by Johann Urb. Leon was created by Hideki Kamiya as a contrast to the male protagonist of the original Resident Evil game, Chris Redfield, who Kamiya felt was the "blunt, tough-guy type". Though Kamiya admitted that while he was a fan of a character like Chris, as it had already been done, he opted to take Leon's development in a different direction.

Ada Wong is a game character in the Resident Evil series. Ada is a mysterious and ambiguous antihero figure, working for the series' villains but... also helping the hero Leon. She debuted in Resident Evil 2 in 1998 and since then became one of the most popular female characters in the series, alongside Jill. The film version of Ada is set to appear in Resident Evil: Retribution, played by Li Bingbing. When Resident Evil 2 was still in development, Ada was known as a researcher named Linda who aided Leon across the game, but was changed for the game's final form. Ada is voiced by Sally Cahill in Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 4 and The Darkside Chronicles, and by an uncredited actress in The Umbrella Chronicles. Cahill said that getting the part of Ada came from doing other voices for the company. Ada's costumes are her iconic red dress and a black combat suit. Producers of the Resident Evil live-action film series reportedly "chose her as a foundation for Alice.

William Birkin is a fictional character in the ''Resident Evil'' series. He is a top virologist working for the Umbrella Corporation and is... responsible for the discovery of the G-Virus. He is the husband of Annette Birkin and the father of Sherry Birkin. His involvement in the G-Virus project serves as a catalyst for the events of Resident Evil 2. He also has a supporting role in the prequel, Resident Evil Zero, where he is involved in the events of the game from behind the scenes. His voice was provided by Diego Matamoros in Resident Evil 2 and by an unattributed actor in Resident Evil Zero. Birkin joined the Umbrella Corporation in 1977 at the age of 15. He was placed at the Umbrella Management Training Facility under James Marcus. There, he became a close acquaintance and rival of fellow researcher Albert Wesker, as they were both considered to be Marcus's top apprentices. They were involved in the development of the T-Virus project, until the facility was closed down in 1978. Afterwards, he and Wesker were transferred to the Arklay Research Facility on July 31, 1978, where they continued their T-Virus research and were made chief researchers of the facility.

Shinji Mikami is a Japanese video game designer best known for creating the seminal survival horror series Resident Evil. He also contributed to some of Capcom's most popular post-32-bit era franchises, including Viewtiful Joe, Devil May Cry, and Ace Attorney, where he served as an executive producer. He was also the creator of the third-person shooter games Resident Evil 4 and Vanquish. After working with Platinum Games, he started his own... studio Tango Gameworks, which has been acquired by the American company ZeniMax Media. Mikami graduated from the Faculty of Commerce at Doshisha University, where he majored in the study of merchandise. He joined Capcom in 1990 and, soon after, created his first title there, a quiz game for the Game Boy titled Capcom Quiz: Hatena? no Daibōken, which took over three months to develop. His following three games were all based on Disney-licensed properties: Who Framed Roger Rabbit? for the Game Boy, and Aladdin and Goof Troop for the Super Nintendo. Aladdin was his first hit, selling over 1.75 million units worldwide.

Virgin Interactive was a British video game publisher. It was formed as Virgin Games Ltd. in 1981. The company became much larger after purchasing the budget label, Mastertronic in 1987. It was part of the Virgin Group. In 1994 it was renamed Virgin Interactive. It published games for PC and... systems, including the Amiga, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, C64, Sega Master System, Sega Mega Drive, Sega Game Gear, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega Saturn, Sony Playstation, Nintendo 64 and Dreamcast. Nintendo Australia distribute Nintendo's products to most of the Oceanic region. Distribution of Nintendo's products in New Zealand was handled by Monaco Corporation Ltd, then Softprint Interactive Ltd, until Softprint went into bankruptcy.
