The Estádio da Gávea , also known as Estádio José Bastos Padilha is a football stadium, inaugurated on September 4, 1938, in the... Lagoa neighborhood, of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It has a maximum capacity of 8,000 people, and is the home ground of Flamengo, its owner. Flamengo rarely play at Estádio da Gávea. The club's most used stadium is Maracanã Stadium. The stadium is named after José Bastos Padilha, Flamengo's president at the time of the stadium construction. He was Flamengo's president from 1933 to 1937. On November 4, 1931, Flamengo acquired rights to the Lagoa site. On December 28, 1933, Flamengo's president at the time, José Padilha, started construction of the stadium, which was inaugurated on September 4, 1938. The inaugural match was played on September 4, 1938, when Vasco beat Flamengo 2-0. The first goal of the stadium was scored by Vasco da Gama's Niginho. The stadium's attendance record, currently stands at 8,882 people, was set on February 6, 1994, when Flamengo and Madureira drew 1-1. Elton John gave a concert at the stadium on November 24, 1995 during his tour Made in England.There were more than 60000 people.

The Estádio do Maracanã , officially Estádio Jornalista Mário Filho , is an open-air stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Owned by... the Rio de Janeiro State Government, it is named after the Maracanã neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro. It was opened in 1950 to host the FIFA World Cup, and in the final game Brazil was beaten 2-1 by Uruguay. Since then, it has mainly been used for football matches between the major football clubs in Rio de Janeiro, including Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense, and Vasco da Gama. It has also hosted a number of concerts and other sporting events. Although the paid attendance at the final game of the 1950 FIFA World Cup was 199,854 , the stadium currently seats 82,238 spectators. It was the main venue of the 2007 Pan American Games, hosting the football final and the opening and closing ceremonies.

The Estádio Olímpico João Havelange, also known by its nickname Engenhão , is a multi-use stadium located in the Engenho de... Dentro neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is used mostly for football matches and athletics and is the home field of the football club Botafogo. Its name honors João Havelange, president of FIFA from 1974 to 1998. The stadium was built by a consortium under the leadership of Odebrecht S.A.. The stadium will host the athletics competitions at the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2016 Summer Paralympics. The stadium's capacity will be increased to 60,000 for the Games. The stadium cost R$ 380 million to build, which was six times the stadium's original construction budget of $60,000,000 The Mayor's office estimated in 2003 that the total construction cost would be of $30 million , the actual cost was thus 533% higher that early estimates. The stadium opened on June 30, 2007. The first match held was a Campeonato Brasileiro Série A game between Botafogo and Fluminense. 40,000 tickets were available for the match and were exchanged for donations of powdered milk.

Estádio Manoel Schwartz, usually known as Estádio das Laranjeiras, is an historic football stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro... state, Brazil. The stadium holds 8,000 people. It was built in 1905, and is one of the oldest stadiums in Brazil. The stadium is owned by Fluminense Football Club. Fluminense acquired a groundplot at Guanabara street in 1902. The stadium bleachers were built in 1905, and its maximum capacity was 5,000 people. The Brazil national football team played its first match in 1914, at Laranjeiras stadium, against Exeter City, of England. The match ended 2-0 to Brazil. The stadium was renovated in 1919, and its capacity was expanded to 19,000 people. The reinaugural match was played on May 11 of that year, when the Brazil national football team beat the Chile national football team 6–0. The first goal of the stadium after the reinauguration was scored by Brazil's Friedenreich. In the same year, Brazil hosted the South American Championship, and all matches of the competition were played at Estádio das Laranjeiras. Brazil won that competition, which was the first title achieved by the Seleção.

Jordana Brewster is a Brazilian-American actress. She began her acting career in her late teens, with a 1995 one-episode role in the soap opera All... My Children. She followed that appearance with the recurring role as Nikki Munson in As the World Turns, for which Brewster was nominated for Outstanding Teen Performer at the 1997 Soap Opera Digest Award. She was later cast as Delilah Profitt, one of the main characters in her first feature film, Robert Rodriguez's 1998 horror science fiction The Faculty. She also landed a starring role in a 1999 NBC television miniseries entitled The 60s. Other film credits include the 2004 action comedy film D.E.B.S., the 2005 independent drama Nearing Grace and the 2006 horror film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, for which she received two Teen Choice Award nominations.

A popular BJJ coach Gracie has helped train a number of MMA professional fighters such as: Matt Serra, Ricardo Almeida, Georges St. Pierre, Frank Edgar, Rolles Gracie, Kyra Gracie and Roy Nelson. His brothers Ralph and the late Ryan Gracie are also famous fighters. Gracie has competed both in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and mixed martial arts events such as the PRIDE Fighting Championships, the International Fight League, RINGS, Martial Arts Reality Superfighting and the World Combat Championship. On February 10, 2007 Gracie won a match against Frank Shamrock for upstart MMA promotion EliteXC on its debut night Saturday February 10, 2007, on Showtime.

Kristen Bjorn is the stage name of a British director and producer of gay pornographic movies and a former gay pornographic actor. In the foreword... to a book devoted to Kristen Bjorn's work, director William Higgins wrote that, "[in] the relatively brief history of hardcore gay videos, Kristen Bjorn has emerged unchallenged as the best director to date." Bjorn was born in London, the son of a Russian mother and a British father. He was raised in Washington, D.C., where his father was stationed as a diplomat. He has a brother and two sisters. In an interview conducted in 1997, Bjorn stated that only one of his sisters knows his profession as a maker of gay erotic films. After graduating from high school, Bjorn set out to travel widely, to places including Asia, India, and Europe. His career goal at the time was to be "a photographer for a magazine like National Geographic. I wanted to travel across the world and photograph people. Thales Leites Lourenço is a Brazilian mixed martial artist. He is the current Superior Challenge middleweight champion. A relative newcomer to... the sport, Leites made his mixed martial arts debut at Shooto Brazil in 2003, defeating Felipe Arinelli by arm-triangle choke submission. Leites would win his next two fights in Vitória before making his debut in the United States in Hawaii's Rumble on the Rock promotion in 2005, where he defeated Adam Roland in his fourth consecutive mixed martial arts victory. After a successful outing in the U.S., Leites returned to Brazil to fight Gustavo Machado, who was coming off two wins in the Japanese Pancrase organization. Leites defeated the more experienced Machado by submission in the third round, and was invited back to Rumble on the Rock to fight Hawaiian Ronald Jhun in September. Despite fighting a hometown favorite, Leites notched his sixth victory, defeating Jhun by technical knockout in the later half of the fight.

Widely known as the composer of "The Girl from Ipanema" , one of the most recorded songs of all time, Jobim has left a large number of songs that are today included in the standard Jazz and Pop repertoires. Antonio Carlos Jobim was born in the middle-class district of Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro. His father Jorge de Oliveira Jobim was a writer, diplomat, professor and journalist. He came from a prominent family, being the great-grand nephew of José Martins da Cruz Jobim, senator, privy councillor and physician of Emperor Dom Pedro II.

Morena Baccarin is a Brazilian-born American actress most widely known for roles in several American science fiction television shows: as Inara... Baccarin was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her mother is Brazilian stage and TV actress Vera Setta, and her father is Brazilian journalist Fernando Baccarin. When she was 7, Baccarin moved with her family to Greenwich Village, New York, as her father was transferred to Globo TV's headquarters in the United States, working as editor. Baccarin attended Public School 41 and New York City Lab School for Collaborative Studies, where she and Claire Danes were classmates. She later attended the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts before she entered the theater program at Juilliard. Baccarin landed her first movie role in the improvised fashion world comedy Perfume . This was followed by a lead role in the film festival hit Way Off Broadway .

Véra Clouzot was a Brazilian-born French film actress and screenwriter. Born as Véra Gibson-Amado in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, she became... the wife of film director Henri-Georges Clouzot. She made only three films, all directed by her husband, the most notable of which was the classic thriller, Les Diaboliques . She also wrote the screenplay for the film La Vérité , which was also directed by her husband. In 1960 she died in Paris, aged 46, from a heart attack and is buried in the Montmartre Cemetery.

Bruno Campos is a Brazilian-born United States-based actor, best known for his role as Dr. Quentin Costa on the Golden Globe Award-winning... television show Nip/Tuck. He was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and spent his childhood traveling through Brazil, Canada, Bahrain, and the United States. At age 14, he attended Michigan's Interlochen Arts Academy. He then studied drama at Northwestern University. Campos is currently a second year student at the University of Michigan Law School. In 1995, he starred in the Brazilian film O Quatrilho which was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards. That same year, he played the male lead at The Goodman Theatre in "All's Well That Ends Well", directed by Tony Award winner Mary Zimmerman. From there, he became better known to American audiences for his roles as Diego on the NBC sitcom Jesse, starring Christina Applegate; as attorney Joe Rivera in the Showtime series Leap Years; and for a recurring guest role as Dr. Eddie Dorset on ER. In 2004, he joined the cast of Nip/Tuck playing plastic surgeon Quentin Costa. In 2010, he made a guest appearance in Private Practice.

Cleo Rocos is a UK-based comedy actress and television/theatre producer and presenter, best known for appearing on The Kenny Everett Television... Show. She is of Greek and English descent. Her father was Greek, and her mother was English. In the 1980s and early 1990s, Rocos appeared regularly on television, from a minor role in the TV adaptation of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy to being a roving reporter for the consumer affairs show That's Life!. She was most frequently seen in Everett's BBC series The Kenny Everett Television Show, in which her glamorous and curvaceous figure was often used to comic effect as a focus for drooling, lascivious men - a role echoed by her similar appearances in the 1985 TV sketch series Assaulted Nuts. She also appeared alongside Everett in BBC1 science quiz series Brainstorm, playing a white-coated lab assistant. Rocos' autobiographical book Bananas Forever: Kenny Everett and Me detailing her relationship with Everett, was published in 1998 but later reissued under the title Kenny and Me.

Marcus Vinícius da Cruz e Mello Moraes , known as Vinícius de Moraes and nicknamed O Poetinha , was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Son of... Lydia Cruz de Moraes and Clodoaldo Pereira da Silva Moraes, he was a seminal figure in contemporary Brazilian music. As a poet, he wrote lyrics for a great number of songs that became all-time classics. He was also a composer of bossa nova, a playwright, a diplomat and, as an interpreter of his own songs, he left several important albums. Son of Clodoaldo da Silva Pereira Moraes - a City Hall officer, as well as poet and amateur guitar player - and Lidia Cruz - a housewife and amateur pianist - Vinicius was born in 1913 in the neighborhood of Gávea, then a rural suburb of Rio de Janeiro. In 1916, he moved with his family to various addresses at the downtown quarter of Botafogo, where he attended classes at Afrânio Peixoto Primary School. In 1920, through his maternal grandfather, he gained entrance at a Masonic lodge.
