The Detroit Pistons are a franchise of the National Basketball Association based in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The team's home arena is The Palace of Auburn Hills. It was originally founded in Fort Wayne, Indiana as the Fort Wayne Pistons as a member of the National Basketball League in 1941, where... they won two championships. The club joined the NBA in 1948, moved to Detroit in 1957, and has since won three championships, most recently in 2004. The franchise was founded as the Fort Wayne Zollner Pistons, a National Basketball League team, playing in the gym of North Side High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Owners Fred Zollner and his sister Janet's Zollner Corporation was a foundry, manufacturing pistons, primarily for car, truck and locomotive engines. In 1948, the team became the Fort Wayne Pistons, competing in the Basketball Association of America . In 1949, Fred Zollner brokered the formation of the National Basketball Association from the BAA and the NBL at his kitchen table. There are suggestions that Pistons players conspired with gamblers to shave points and throw various games during the 1953–54 and 1954–55 seasons.

Eastern Washington University is an American public, coeducational university located in Cheney, Washington. Founded in 1882, the university is academically divided into four colleges: Arts and Letters; Business and Public Administration; Science, Health and Engineering; and Social & Behavioral... Sciences and Social Work. As of the year 2011, Eastern Washington University enrolled over 12,000 graduate and undergraduate students for the fall semester. Eastern Washington University was established in 1882 by a $10,000 grant from expressman Benjamin Pierce Cheney, and was originally known as Benjamin P. Cheney Academy to honor its founder. In 1889 the school was renamed State Normal School and in 1937 to Eastern Washington College of Education. The campus grew quickly in size following World War II. The school became Eastern Washington State College. During this era, Eastern added various graduate and undergraduate degree programs. In 1977, the school's name was changed for the final time to Eastern Washington University by the Washington State Legislature. The main campus of Eastern Washington University is located in Cheney.

Kent is a city located in King County, Washington, United States, and is the third largest city in King County and the sixth largest in the state. An outlying suburb of Seattle, Kent is also the corporate home for companies such as REI and Oberto Sausage. Nearby towns include Renton and Tukwila to... the north, Covington to the east, Federal Way, Des Moines and SeaTac to the west, and Auburn, Federal Way, unincorporated King County and part of Covington to the south. The population as of April, 2010 was 92,411 according to the 2010 census. The total grew to an estimated 118,200 as of April 1, 2011, owing primarily to annexation. The Kent area was first permanently settled by westerners in the early 1860s, and originally called Titusville . During the 1880s the town discovered hops production as the major source of income. Due to an aphid invasion which affected hops crops in Europe, hops from the Puget Sound area were commanding high prices. Hops were shipped from Titusville either by the river or via rail. Eventually the town was even renamed for Kent County in England.
