Michael Earl "Mike" Smith is an American jockey who has been one of the leading riders in U.S. thoroughbred racing since the early 1990s. The son of... a jockey, Smith began riding races in his native New Mexico at age 11, and took out a jockey's license at age 16 in 1982. He left New Mexico the following year, riding mostly in the Midwest where he earned his apprenticeship at Canterbury Downs Minnesota before moving to New York in 1989. In 1991, he became one of the few American jockeys to win a European classic by claiming victory in the Irish 2,000 Guineas aboard Fourstars Allstar . Also that year he got his big break by leading jockey in New York from 1991–93, with 330, 297 and 313 wins, respectively. The following year, he rode his first Breeders' Cup winner, Lure, in the Breeders' Cup Mile. The year after that, 1993, he truly arrived as a top jockey, setting a North American record for stakes wins in a year with 62.

Susan Graham is an American mezzo-soprano. Raised in Midland, Texas, she is a graduate of Texas Tech University and the Manhattan School of Music.... She studied the piano for 13 years. She was a winner in the Metropolitan Opera's National Council Auditions, and also a recipient of the Schwabacher Award from the Merola Program of San Francisco Opera. Graham made her international début at Covent Garden in 1994, playing Massenet's Chérubin. She has also premièred several roles in contemporary operas, including John Harbison's The Great Gatsby , Jake Heggie's Dead Man Walking , and Tobias Picker's An American Tragedy . Graham is a noted champion of the French song repertoire and of songs by contemporary American composers, including Ned Rorem and Lowell Liebermann. Del Zamora is an American actor. Del Zamora was born in Roswell, New Mexico, the oldest of three children, and is of Latino/Native American descent... Apache Mescalero/Mexican heritage. His family hails from what is now called Lincoln County in New Mexico. Both sides of his family date back in that area to the 16th century. His great, great grandmother, Nestorita Lara was painted by Henrietta Wyeth when Nestorita was 114 years old. The painting still hangs in the city museum in Roswell. Del's grandfather, Tircio Romero, helped build the roads and infrastructure of Lincoln County and served as a member of the county's first school board. Del's grandmother, Mercedes Lara, was the first girl to graduate from high school in Lincoln County and she was first in her class. His mother, Maria, the youngest daughter of Tircio and Mercedes, moved Del and his two sisters to Albuquerque, New Mexico, in order to pursue her college education. She raised her three children alone, after Del's father abandoned the family. Del Zamora attended Flora Vista Elementary school in Roswell, New Mexico. Flora Vista Elementary eventually changed its name to Nancy Lopez Elementary school.

Austin St. John is a former American actor and martial artist known for his role in the popular Power Rangers children's television series as Jason... Lee Scott, the original Red Ranger and first leader of the Power Rangers. He is currently working as an emergency medical technician and firefighter In Washington, D.C. St. John has been practicing martial arts since he was five and holds a second-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, a first-degree black belt in Judo, and he also practices Kenpo. St. John's first major role in acting was in 1993, when he starred as Jason Lee Scott, the Red Power Ranger, in Saban Entertainment's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. At the age of 17 when the series premiered on the Fox Network, he was the youngest member of the original cast, but was also the most experienced at martial arts, which was integrated into his character on the show. Thomas Jefferson "Tom" Brookshier was an American professional football player, coach and sportscaster. He was a starting defensive back for the... Philadelphia Eagles for seven seasons from 1953 to 1961. He later paired with Pat Summerall on the primary broadcast team for National Football League games on CBS during the 1970s. Brookshier attended high school at Roswell High School in his hometown of Roswell, New Mexico. At Roswell, he received all-state honors in football, basketball and baseball. As a three-year letterman in football at the University of Colorado from 1950 through 1952, he was a defensive back, fullback and return specialist. One of his gridiron teammates was John Swigert. Brookshier was also a relief pitcher on the university's baseball team. He was a 10th-round NFL draft pick. He played defensive back for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League from 1953 to 1961, missing both the 1954 and 1955 seasons to serve in the United States Air Force. He was a starter on the Eagles' NFL Championship team in 1960, and was selected for the Pro Bowl twice.

Doris Hill was an American film actress of the 1920s and 1930s, mostly in B movies. Born and raised in Roswell, New Mexico, Hill moved to Hollywood... in the mid-1920s to pursue an acting career. First working as a vaudeville dancer, she received her first film acting role in 1926 when she starred alongside George O'Hara in Is That Nice?. She starred in seventeen films from 1926 to 1929, and unlike many silent film stars, she made a successful transition to talking films. In 1929, along with future major Hollywood star Jean Arthur, Hill was selected as one of thirteen girls to be WAMPAS Baby Stars. On contract with Paramount Pictures, she starred in four films in 1930, most notably Sons of the Saddle with popular western actor Ken Maynard. Western film roles became her most common parts, with her often starring opposite Tom Tyler. In 1932, she starred in another six films, four of which were westerns. In 1933, she starred in four films, all westerns, and by 1934, her career had slowed to almost no roles.
