Slaughterhouse is a hip hop supergroup consisting of rappers Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Royce da 5'9". They are currently signed to Shady... and Interscope. The group formed in late 2008 after Crooked I, Joell Ortiz, Royce Da 5'9", and Nino Bless appeared on the song "Slaughterhouse" from Joe Budden's album Halfway House. They decided to form a group, minus Nino Bless, and named the group after the song. The members of Slaughterhouse all share some degree of controversy from their past in the music industry. All four men address these issues in the Slaughterhouse song "Move On", informing any interviewers out there that their pasts are behind them and that questions pertaining to these events are not relevant. Their self-titled debut album was released on August 11, 2009 on E1 Music. The album was reportedly recorded over a six day period in early June. The album features production from Focus, The Alchemist, DJ Khalil, StreetRunner and Mr. Porter of D12. On June 18, 2009, the first street single off the album was released via Joe Budden's Twitter account. The track was "Woodstock Hood Hop" and features M.O.P. on the hook.

E1 Music , the primary subsidiary of E1 Entertainment LP, is an independent record label in the United States. It is also distributed by the Universal Music Group in Europe under the name E1 Universal. On January 22, 2009, Koch Records was officially branded as "E1 Music" by parent company... Entertainment One. E1 Music was formed in May 1999 as "Koch Records" to serve as the North American umbrella for E1 Entertainment's labels . They would sign many country, classical, and rock acts including, Cledus T. Judd, Ringo Starr, Joan Baez, Chris Brubeck, Bob James, and an exclusive distribution with Suge Knight's embattled Death Row Records. The label soon began to gain ground on the other independent record labels in the United States. In the 2000s, they began to sign more hip hop acts and become one of the biggest hip hop labels in the world. They signed various distribution deals with labels like Open Bar Entertainment, Terror Squad, D-Block Records, and others. In 2004, they were able to sign a deal with Snoop Dogg and his Doggystyle Records along with Mobb Deep.

Game Recordings was a New York-based record label best known for its artists featured on the soundtrack of the video game Grand Theft Auto III. Game Recordings artists included Royce Da 5'9", Agallah, Sean Price, Pretty Ugly, Ilacoin, Nature, and JoJo Pellegrino. The label was also known for the... "Game Girls," or "Hip Hop Honeys," who featured on all of the promotional singles and maxi-CDs it released. The label's Chief Executive Officer was Jonathan "Shecky Green" Shecter, co-founder of The Source magazine. Eric "Ric Riggler" Rhea, an A&R executive, headed the company. Game Recordings' first release was Lord Digga's My Flow is Tight, a song based on a sample from the theme of the game show The Price is Right. In 1999 Game Recordings released a 12" single consisting of three songs, by rap duo Bad Meets Evil, called Nuttin' to Do. In 2000 Game Recordings released two singles from artist Ilacoin. "By A Stranger" featuring other New York artists Labba & Bad Boy artist, Black Rob and "Keep It Street" featuring Sadat X of Brand Nubian.
