ARCO Arena, originally called the Sacramento Sports Arena and later called the Original ARCO Arena or ARCO Arena I to distinguish it from its... successor, was an indoor arena in Sacramento, California, USA. It was one of the leagues smallest arenas as it held 10,333 people and was built in 1985 to temporarily accommodate the NBA's Sacramento Kings, who had relocated from Kansas City. Located north of Sacramento's downtown, ARCO Arena was nicknamed "The Madhouse on Market Street," and Kings games in this small venue were 100% sold out. Its official name of "ARCO Arena" is believed to be the first example of an NBA team selling naming rights to a brand new facility: in this case, rights were sold to the Atlantic Richfield Company, which is now a subsidiary of BP. The Kings left this building in 1988 to move to the new ARCO Arena , built one mile to the west. The structure survived as an office building for Sprint Communications. On December 19, 2005, the California Department of Consumer Affairs moved their headquarters into the building.

The California State Capitol is home to the government of California. The building houses the bicameral state legislature and the office of the... governor. The Neoclassical structure was completed between 1861 and 1874 at the west end of Capitol Park, which is framed by L Street to the north, N Street to the south, 10th Street to the west, and 15th Street to the east. The Capitol and grounds were listed on the office of the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, and listed as a California Historical Landmark in 1974, with a re-dedication on January 9, 1982 to commemorate the close of the bicentennial restoration project. The building is based on the U.S. Capitol building in Washington D.C. The west facade ends in projecting bays, and a portico projects from the center of the building. At the base of the portico, seven granite archways brace and support the porch above. Eight fluted Corinthian columns line the portico. A cornice supports the pediment above depicting Minerva surrounded by Education, Justice, and Mining. Above the flat roof with balustrade are two drums supporting a dome.

The Pony Express Terminal, also known as the B. F. Hastings Bank Building, in Sacramento, California, was the western endpoint of the Pony Express.... The building was also the first location of the California Supreme Court. It is now part of the Old Sacramento State Historic Park, itself a National Historic Landmark District. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1966. It is located at 1006 2nd St. or at 128-132 J Street in Sacramento.

The J. Neely Johnson House is a Greek Revival style Neoclassical historic home built in 1853, located at 1029 F Street in Sacramento, California. It... was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 13, 1976. The house was constructed in 1853 for John Neely Johnson, the fourth governor of California, who served from 1856 to 1858. Johnson was a lawyer by trade who had moved to California during the 1849 California Gold Rush.

The California State Indian Museum is a museum in the state park system of California, USA, interpreting the diverse cultures of the indigenous... peoples of California. It is located in downtown Sacramento. The museum exhibits traditional items illustrating the varying cultures of the state's first inhabitants. The native population of California, one of the largest and most diverse in the Western hemisphere, was made up of over 150 distinct tribal groups who spoke at least sixty-four different languages. Prior to the arrival of the first European explorers, the native population is estimated to have been in excess of 500,000 people. The State Indian Museum, opened in 1940, is located at 2618 K Street Sacramento, near the intersection of 26th and K Streets. Current exhibits depict three major themes of California Indian life: Nature, Spirit, and Family. Native peoples lived prosperously for thousands of years in what is now California. All of the exhibits and photographs on display in the museum are presented with respect for those who went before us on this land and continue to live in California communities today.

The Crocker Art Museum is one of the leading arts institutions in California, and the longest continuously operating art museum in the West. The Museum boasts one of the state’s premier collections of Californian art dating from the Gold Rush to the present day, a world-renowned collection of master drawings, European paintings, one of the largest and most comprehensive international ceramics collections in the U.S. and collections of Asian, African, and Oceanic art. In addition to its impressive collections, the Crocker offers a wide variety of public programs. In 1869, Judge E. B. and Margaret Crocker began to assemble a significant collection of paintings and drawings during an extended trip to Europe. As a prominent California family, the Crockers supported many social and civic causes. Judge Crocker practiced law and served on the State Supreme Court. He was the brother of Charles Crocker, one of the “Big Four” railroad barons, and acted as legal counsel for the Central Pacific Railroad.

Chino Moreno is an American musician. He is best known as the lead singer and contributing guitarist of Deftones. He is also a member of the... side-project bands Team Sleep and Crosses. Moreno is well known for his distinctive screams, as well as his soothing tenor voice while singing melodically. In 2007, he was placed at number 51 in Hit Parader's "Top 100 Metal Vocalists of All Time". Moreno was born in Sacramento, California to a Mexican father and a Spanish/Chinese mother; the latter being the origin of his Spanish nickname Chino, which means "Chinese" in Spanish. He was the third of five children. He attended McClatchy High School, where he met Abe Cunningham and Stephen Carpenter, with whom he founded Deftones in 1988. Before becoming a professional musician, Moreno had a day job at Tower Records' shipping department. In relation to his often ambiguous yet image-heavy poetic lyrics, Moreno quotes: "[Sometimes] my lyrics don't deal with specific topics. I write down on paper the feelings of the moment, it's not easy to explain the contents of the lyrics or give a logical sense to the words.

Noriyuki "Pat" Morita was an American actor of Japanese descent who was well-known for playing the roles of Matsuo "Arnold" Takahashi on Happy Days... and Mr. Miyagi in the The Karate Kid movie series, for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1984. Pat Morita was born in Isleton, California. He developed spinal tuberculosis at the age of two and spent the bulk of the next nine years in Northern Californian hospitals, including the Shriners Hospital in San Francisco. For long periods he was wrapped in a full-body cast and was told he would never walk. After a surgeon fused four vertebrae in his spine, Pat finally learned to walk again at the age of 11. By then, his Japanese American family had been sent to an internment camp to be detained for the duration of World War II. He was transported from the hospital directly to the Gila River camp in Arizona to join them. It was at this time that he met a Catholic priest from whom he would later take his stage name, "Pat". For a time after the war, the family operated Ariake Chop Suey, a restaurant in Sacramento, California.

Dungey was born in Sacramento, California, the daughter of Don Dungey, a general services manager. As a child, she was active in ballet and dance as well as piano. Stephen Carpenter is an American musician known as the co-founder and lead guitarist of the alternative metal band Deftones. His guitar technique... makes use of both ringing open strings and dissonant chord voicings, as well as stock power chords in polyrhythms. Carpenter is a noted 7 and 8 string guitar player, being influenced by such bands as Fear Factory and Meshuggah. Stephen Carpenter was born on August 3, 1970 in Sacramento, California to a North American father and a Mexican mother. With his family consisting of his mother Maria and his sister Marci. He grew up in the Sacramento area and pursued many hobbies, including skateboarding. When Carpenter was 15 years old, he was hit by a car while skateboarding. He used a wheelchair for several months. It was at this point that he began teaching himself guitar by playing along with bands such as Anthrax, Stormtroopers of Death and Metallica. It has been reported that the driver paid Carpenter a cash settlement that allowed the band to purchase equipment, but drummer Abe Cunningham commented in an interview that this was "a myth about how our band was started.

Michael Alden Hedges was an American composer, Acoustic guitarist and singer-songwriter. Hedges attended Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma,... studying classical guitar. It was here that he studied under his compositional mentor, E. J. Ulrich. Subsequently, from 1979 til 1982, Hedges was a composition major at Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland who applied his classically-trained musical background in combination with various unusual techniques to the steel-string acoustic guitar. He covered a wide range of musical styles and was considered an extremely dynamic performer in concert. Michael made ends meet playing and singing in pubs and restaurants in the Baltimore Metro area during his tenure at Peabody. In 1980, he made plans to move to California to study music at Stanford University. He was discovered in February 1981 by William Ackerman who heard him performing at The Varsity Theater in Palo Alto and immediately signed him to a recording contract on the Windham Hill label. He was married to flutist Mindy Rosenfeld but the couple divorced in the late 1980s.

Daniel Dale Johnston is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and artist. Johnston was the subject of the 2006 documentary The Devil and Daniel... Johnston. He currently lives in Waller, Texas. Johnston has been diagnosed with manic depression and schizophrenia which has been a recurring problem throughout his life. Johnston was born in Sacramento, California, and grew up in the northern panhandle of West Virginia between Ohio and Pennsylvania near Chester and New Cumberland, West Virginia. He began recording music in the late 1970s on a $59 Sanyo monaural Boombox, singing and playing piano and chord organ. Following graduation from Oak Glen High School, Johnston spent a few weeks at Abilene Christian University in West Texas, but soon dropped out. Later he attended the East Liverpool branch of Kent State University. Johnston's musical work gained some notoriety when he moved to Austin, Texas. Johnston began to attract the attention of the local press and gain a following augmented in numbers by his habit of handing out tapes to people he met. Live performances were well-attended and hotly anticipated.

As a commercial director he has worked with UPS, Nike, Subway, Rock Band and Volvo for several campaigns, including the Titanium Lion winning Life on Board campaign from the 2005 Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival. He produced DVDs for the Directors Label Series, covering the work of Chris Cunningham, Michel Gondry, Spike Jonze, Mark Romanek, Stéphane Sednaoui, Jonathan Glazer and Anton Corbijn.
