The Minnesota Vikings are a professional American football team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Vikings joined the National Football League as an expansion team in 1960, and first took the field for the 1961 season. They currently participate in the North Division of the National Football... Conference ; prior to that the Vikings were in the NFC Central Division, and before that they were in the NFL's Western Conference Central Division. The Vikings play their home games at the Mall of America Field at Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis as they have since 1982. While the Vikings continue to play in the same building, the Metrodome has recently been renamed Mall of America Field. From the team's first season in 1961 to 1982, the team had called Metropolitan Stadium in suburban Bloomington home. The Vikings conducted summer training camp at Bemidji State University from 1961–65. In 1966, they moved their training camp to Minnesota State University in Mankato, where it remains to this day. Throughout the Vikings' history, they have had one of the highest winning percentages in the NFL.

Iowa State University of Science and Technology, more commonly known as Iowa State University , is a public land-grant and space-grant research university located in Ames, Iowa, United States. Iowa State has produced astronauts, scientists, and Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winners, along with a host of... other notable individuals in their respective fields. Until 1959 it was known as the Iowa State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts. Founded in 1858 and coeducational from its start, ISU is classified as a Research University with very high research activity by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. The university is a group member of the prestigious American Association of Universities, Universities Research Association, and the Big 12 Conference. Iowa State is a leader in agriculture, engineering, extension, and home economics, and created the nation's first state veterinary medicine school in 1879. In 1933, Iowa State established the Statistical Laboratory. It was and is the first research and consulting institute of its kind in the country.

Maquoketa is a city in Clinton and Jackson counties in the U.S. state of Iowa. Located on the Maquoketa River, it is the county seat of Jackson County. U.S. Route 61 adjoins the city, which therefore benefits, or possibly hinders, from traffic between Dubuque and the Quad Cities. Iowa Highways 62... and 64 also pass through the city. Maquoketa Caves State Park is located a few miles northwest of the city. The population was 6,141 at the 2010 census. In 1838, six years before Iowa became a state, J.E. Goodenow and Lyman Bates came to this location, bought some land and built a log cabin. On June 4, 1840 J.E. Goodenow was appointed as the Post Master of the original U.S. Post Office located here and it was named "Springfield" after J.E. Goodenow's home town in Vermont. As time went on, there was a problem because of the large number of towns and cities already in the country with the name of Springfield, mail was getting lost by being sent to the wrong Post Offices. John Shaw, Rev. William Salter, and J.E. Goodenow petitioned the Post Office Department for a change of name to “Maquoketa”. It was changed by March 13, 1844.
